I barely whisper as I look at the walls lined with books and the shelves that reach the ceiling. “Bastet!” A book falls to the floor creating an echo as it lands, startling me. “King Kolby how… what…” I see Althea, Tawny’s Grandmother, the late queen to Tolba standing there with her mouth gaping open like a fish in shock. “Althea!” I exclaim with just as much surprise. “We found another gateway and it took me here.” “Well, yeah,” she says with sarcasm. “They are all over the place in this realm, I guess you just need to know where to look. But I thought you needed the stones to activate the gateways?”

" … I woke up in a massive, two-thousand-square-foot bedroom. The moment I opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was a gold-gilded ceiling, accompanied by a fragrance that filled the air. "You're awake." Cleo Parker set down the handgun she was cleaning, wiped her hands, and walked over to the edge of the bed. Those curved, almond-shaped eyes of hers were incredibly charming, yet undeniably dangerous. I instinctively pulled the blanket tighter around myself. "Who exactly are you?" "The Parkers of Alderney. Who do you think I am?"

* I wiped the blood off my face, my eyes turning as cold as ice. I finally understood the essence of this game. Play the White Moonlight? Die. Play the Maid? Die. Play the Family? Die. As long as you are "human," as long as you approach him with a goal, you are a dead end. Because in his eyes, "human" is synonymous with betrayal. I want to win. So I can't be human. I climbed into the black Bentley the Holloway family had sent and opened my phone, logging into a private online forum. The forum was exclusive to the city's most elite socialites. I had access only because the Holloways had activated all my top-tier privileges after confirming my identity. A pinned post on the front page was surging with activity. The title read: *The Golden Boy Returns -- Victoria Sterling Secures Her Throne.* I tapped the post. Inside were photos and videos from last night at The Grand Pavilion.

I had no interest in that so I just kept walking until I reached my room. I immediately went in and sat on the sofa bed. I don't know how I will end this day. Can I read a book? I stood up again and looked at the shelves with books. It was meant to be used as a book for my studies. Rare flowers. That's what's written in the book. I didn't read it because I didn't need to. I don't really like reading either. I will only read if necessary. So I brought the rather large book. The books here are a bit different because they are not like printed books. This is handwritten and the images are drawn, but that's okay because the writer's calligraphy is beautiful.

A silly little game, that is all it was supposed to be but it turned to so much more. It was four years ago and I was fourteen. It was my brother's going away party. At sixteen male werewolves go to academy to serve in the military and prepare for their adult roles in the pack. My brother Bo and his best friend Drake were leaving the next day. The adults had already called it a night and the teenagers had somehow ended up in the basement playing truth or dare, typical dumb kid stuff. When it came to Drake's turn, he was challenged to draw a name from a cup and go play seven minutes in heaven with them. He drew my name. I had always had a crush on Drake and this was my chance.
