Mari whispers, even though they’ve already disappeared down the path. “I’m fine,” I lie as I seize the banister and mount the first stair, hauling my bum leg up after. “Do you need help?” “I’ve got it.” Stairs take me a second, but I can do them no problem. It’s steep declines that suck. When I get inside, all my roommates are huddled on the sofa. They’ve been snooping. “What did the alpha want?” Kennedy asks. “Are you exiled?” Annie worries the hem of her shirt.

We couldn't watch tv passed 8pm, we had to wash our dishes after every meal, and we had train two times a day plus due rounds of patrol every four hours and so many more that I didn't even want to repeat because they were ridiculous. "Caleb you will be rooming with Maddox, he's one of my best warriors" the alpha said as he knocked on the door before opening it after receiving a 'come in Alpha Logan' "Maddox, this is Caleb and he'll be your roommate for the next five months" The alpha said making me gap. Five months? What the fuck? What about school? I can't be here. There's a football game coming up in two weeks and I'm the star quarterback of the team.

Matthew looked furious. Tyler looked scared. And suddenly the warmth from moments ago felt impossibly far away. My gaze drifted across the room toward Kael again. He had already returned to helping the healers, steady and calm like none of this chaos touched him. Simple. Normal. Then I looked back at the three Alphas around me — men carrying war, prophecy, power, and impossible choices on their shoulders. My chest tightened painfully. I was standing between two worlds. Both of them were beginning to fall apart.

Soon they stopped at a table that already had three people sitting at it. After sitting down at the table, Alex wrapped his arm around Ash once more. He then looked at his friends and smiled at them. As Ash looked at the three friends, he could sense that two of them were alphas and the other was a beta. The alphas were both male, and the beta was also male. It was making Ash feel uneasy, and he moved as close to Alex as he could. Alex could sense the boy's distress, so he pulled Ash's head towards his neck, letting the omega smell his scent. After a few minutes, Ash lifted his head, and when he did, he saw all of Alex's friends looking at him. Alex looked over at his friends too and growled

Harley said flatly. “I have heating,” Luca muttered. “I have food,” Gavin added under his breath. I raised both hands. “Okay. Stop. I appreciate the Alpha Housing Auction, but let’s dial it back before someone shifts and starts marking furniture.” Three heads turned to me. I gave them a look. “Seriously. I… I’ve got this. I’m not moving in with anyo–” “We all have space,” Harley said suddenly. I blinked. Luca turned toward him slowly. “What?”

“Where?” “The Alpha Academy.” I blinked at her, certain I didn't hear correctly. “The what?” “You heard me.” She replied, her gaze steady. I gave a dry laugh. “Aunt Luma it’s for male heirs. Sons of Alphas, future leaders trained to rule. It’s the most heavily guarded and secretive institution in the entire continent. No outsider steps foot there, unless they’re chosen. And even then—” I cut myself off, realizing what she was asking me to do. My mouth was wide open.

Staring at him with wide eyes, it finally dawned on me that he was more than a room-mate to Ethan! Just great! Like it isn’t bad enough that the three psychotic Alphas have discovered my identity, what do I do about my brother “room-mate?” Do I dare tell him with everything hanging in the balance?

When the door closed, my phone vibrated. Clara: I need some time alone. Clara: My parents are being assholes. Clara: I am going back to my dorm room.
