The only way to save our powers from their eyes was to hide it from them in the depths of the dark valleys and jungles. We lived in packs. Each city or town had a different pack run by a different leader that they called an 'Alpha'. The alpha was like the king of that pack who had the responsibility of keeping the pack safe from attacks of humans or other packs. I have alpha blood in me, my father is an alpha too.”

With shaky hands Daniels pulled the Humvee away from the vehicles, made a U-turn and started the drive back to base. “Hey, explain to me what that thing was!” Zane demanded. “Well for every one-thousand Pales born there is one alpha.” Daniels started to explain. “Alphas are smarter, faster, bigger and stronger than an average Pale. An alpha can stand in UV light. It’s believed they are a more pure version of Pales. They have tails too.”
