The principal wanted me to start immediately. The Wolfcrest Alpha Academy was the training grounds for every Alpha and possible Luna in the country, and only granted Alpha and noble wolf families into its prestigious halls. Only this year did it allow high-school graduates with a 4.0 average to submit applications. I did it on a whim since my boyfriend, Justin Norris, was going and we could still be together. I never expected to get accepted so quickly. Nor did Justin even think I'd get the chance due to my low rank of wolf.

I stand at the gates of Ridgecrest Academy, and it’s nothing like I expected. The place looks more like a fortress than a school. Stone walls, iron gates, and high towers loom over the campus, reminding me that this isn’t just any academy. It’s where they train the next generation of Alphas, Betas, and Omegas. Correction—where they train Alphas to lead, Betas to serve, and Omegas to submit. This place is designed to churn out obedient Omegas, perfect little packages ready for Alphas to claim.

My mind is whirling with crazy thoughts, my wolf growls at me, "GO BACK, SHE'S OUR MATE, OUR MATE IS THERE!" I pull out the keys to my rental, hit the key fob to open the door and get in. My hands wrap around the steering wheel as I growl, "FUCK, I got to get out of here, I can't ruin this for her." Somewhere in the back of my mind, a small red light flickered wildly, but I couldn’t pinpoint out what on earth the reason behind it was. “Unfortunately, it’s the fastest way to get to the academy, and we don’t have much time to get back.” “Time for what?” “Before they send the hounds. Remember I’m the alpha’s son. If I’m out too long, they assume something went wrong and backups come running. Trust me, we don’t want that to happen.”

He was ready to black out. "Stop, stop. You don't want to kill him." Alpha looked at me, his eyes full of anger and disappointment. It made my heart sink to my stomach. "We are leaving." Alpha did not request, he demanded. "But-" He gripped my arm, throwing me over his muscular shoulder, walked out of the restaurant. I was totally dead this time and the most person I didn't want in life was around. Steven. It was probably another punishment again. Alpha sat me down in the truck and Steven slid in next to me. Alpha hoped in the front driver seat. Shifting the car into drive, he pulled off in pursuit of his home.

I froze, expecting the Beta to join in their cruelty, or worse, to deliver a punishment for causing a commotion. Rhys stopped directly in front of the Omega who had shoved me. His large hand closed around her chin, forcing her head up. The snarky smile never left his lips, but his amber eyes were suddenly hard, predatory. “Listen, little mouse,” he said, his voice dropping to a fierce snarl. “That particular piece of dirt is currently property of the Alpha.” He punctuated the word property with a slight, warning shake of her head. “The Alpha does not like his things damaged. If I catch any of you so much as looking at her with disrespect, Kael won’t skin you. I will. Now scatter.”
