Alpha Clause was in the middle with Alpha Wyatt beside him and Alpha Sloan on the far right. Alpha Mason was known to be the oldest and was the one that usually spoke in these ceremonies. I was not yet ready to mark her, but I wanted to fuck her every night and plant my seed in her until the day we died. Inside, I was dying because every molecule of my being wanted my mark and scent branded on her shoulders and neck. Knowing that I could not drove me crazy. The pack's not used to formal hierarchy beyond Alpha, Beta, Enforcer. Father kept things relatively casual.

From that day onwards, those overcome by the beast were called werewolves as they were both man and wolf. The Prince was the most powerful among the clan and was called "Alpha", his second in command was the "Beta". The weak and the less strong-willed were the "Omega". The omegas were preyed upon because they were easily controlled and were not strong as they were not fully possessed by the beast. The most significant wolf after the Alpha and Beta were the "Epsilon". The Epsilons were the peacemakers, healers who could calm a wolf in rage. Epsilons are rare and most times are mistaken for an Omega.

The beards on his face were so much that his mouth was almost invisible. “When did you arrive?” the husky voice inquired. I used to think my father had the scariest voice but I was proven wrong right on the spot. I began a tireless palpitation as I struggled to crawl away from him, moving on my already-bruised elbows. Sporadic coughing flew out of my mouth in replacement for an answer to his question. He pulled me by my hair towards what seemed like a thatched house in the midst of forest ground. The chaotic noise diminished as we approached the onlookers—a large group of young females and a scanty number of males. All looking unkempt and scrawny. I could tell I was the oldest among the girl

“I’d like to know about… the pack. About how this all actually works.” Relief landed in my chest like a weight set down where it belongs. “Okay.” I stood—not to loom, just to erase the furniture between us—and gestured toward the small seating area by the window. She chose the end of the chaise closest to the door. Sensible. I took the chair that let her see the room and the hallway in one glance. “Baseline first,” I said. “Hierarchy isn’t about ego; it’s about responsibilities. Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Omegas—those are jobs more than crowns.”

Omegas carried trays and jugs from the kitchen, weaving around the stronger bodies with practiced care. The hierarchy was visible in every line, every glance. At the top stood the Alpha and his future Luna, seated at the highest table, their plates always the fullest, their cups always filled first. The Beta and Gamma flanked them, solid pillars of authority. Below them, ranked in order of strength and service, were the elite warriors and seasoned scouts. Lower still, the general warriors, trainees, and specialized roles—the blacksmith, the healer, the seers. At the very bottom, scraping what fell through the cracks, were the omegas.
