“ Since, you like making me villain so much then I can show you what a villain is.” As she said she snapped her fingers again, this time Moira turned upside down, her mouth still frothing. “ I can burn you, drown you and if I want I can choke the life out of you.” She slowly turned around and then crouched down to look Moira in the eye and chuckled when she saw the fear in her eyes of the latter. “ You like calling me a monster right? Then I will let you on one thing…” she leaned in closer and hissed softly. “ I am a monster.”

Purpose. I remember my blade moving. Moira’s eyes widened. She tried to defend. Too slow. My first strike caught her arm. Moonbane energy burned through her defenses. She screamed. My second strike took her in the side. Deeper. Harder. She stumbled back. Shock on her face. “How you were exhausted,” “You touched my daughter.” The words came out in a voice I did not recognize. All three power sources spoke at once. I advanced. Moira retreated. For the first time, the high priestess looked afraid.

It was one of those that a disgusting psychopath would let loose. “Bring the bitch here, so I can let her know her place,” Asshole number one told the second one. ‘Moira wants to try something with her sight,’ Brynn told me. I had no idea what to expect, but all of a sudden whatever she was seeing through Moira’s sight allowed all of us to see it through the mindlink.

Just concrete, dust, and darkness. And then, I saw the motion. From the corner of her room, just outside my field of vision, a shape began to emerge. It was long, impossibly thin, and moved with a sickening, liquid grace. It wasn't human. It was a silhouette of knotted shadows, elongated limbs clicking against the floorboards like chitinous insects. The girl saw it too. Her eyes rolled back in her head, and she slammed her fist against the glass, not to escape, but to warn me.

Clearly, her resistance and screaming would not deter the monster from getting his satisfaction. The fictional images flashed in Moira head as if they were a series of recent, traumatising memories; almost fooling her into believing that her nightmarish fantasies were real. Fuelled by pre-existing fears and beliefs about her new husband, whose dark reputation preceded him; Moira was terrorised by her own thoughts. Sleep would not come easily under the influence of such crippling terror; particularly bearing in mind that Moira had absolutely no one to turn to for help. All she could do was hide under the silk bed covers and wait for fate to overtake her.

A small crowd is swift to gather around the scene and when I struggle through the gasping wolves I encounter Moira sprawled on the snow floor in a pool of her red thick blood a sharp knife lodged deep into her left thigh. "I am sorry mama." Argus is wailing shrilly beside her his eyes swollen and red as streams of his sorrowful tears gush down his cheeks. He is drenched in her blood too which means she has been bleeding for a while now and her male had just gotten out of his shock to shriek and fetch our attention, this must be so frightening for him.

Strangely, the face that stared back at me wasn't one I was very familiar with. The one in the mirror was fat, no, chubby. She had full, beautiful cheeks. There was even some color on her skin, some rosy pink color. She looked more alive than I had looked in all my grandeur as the Vampire Queen. “What The Fuck Is Going On Here?” I whispered slowly, highlighting every word as I backed away from the mirror. Then it all made sense to me… The moon goddess indeed answered my prayer, gave me another shot at life, but definitely not the easiest chance to fulfill my aim of killing Rowan.

She weakly knelt and bowed, her head touching the floor, in her own pool of blood. “Madam,” Moira cried out in a cracked, helpless, and painful voice. “I have served you for years, dedicated my life to this family and the pack. I beg of you…” Moira coughed out blood and continued, holding her chest with one hand as a sharp pain came upon her chest. “Please, forgive my wrongdoings.” She cried in agony and fear, “I swear on my life that if you tell me what I did wrong, I will never do it again.”

“I was your age restless, bored with Forreston. Your mother and I had planned to travel together, but then she met your father. You know the rest. I went alone. I said yes to everything.” I could practically see the wild, free-spirited girl she’d once been. “I was taken in by a witch named Octavia. I became her apprentice. Learned everything I could.” “You’re a witch?” Henry blurted out, and we all laughed tension broken, at least for a moment. “Yes, Henry. I’m a witch,” Moira said with a smile. “Eventually, I started traveling selling spells, making potions, seeing things beyond the human world. There are more places like Aruyios. More creatures.”

On the ride over, my sister confirmed our Irish team, led by none other than a tall red-head named Moira who could’ve been Merida’s direct descendant if the Disney princess were a real person, was in position, and so far there’d been no Vampire sightings. We were all pretty quiet. The nap on the plane had done me good, but I needed to focus. I had a feeling this wasn’t going to go as planned. I seriously doubted we’d show up, Moria’s team would hold off the bad guys, and Christian and Aaron would come strolling out of the portal like they’d just returned from a weekend getaway to the Poconos. No, something was bound to go wrong. I just hoped we were resilient enough to fix it on the spot bec
