Rejecting Fate
I feel my shoulders sag and my gaze dips to the grass.
“Hey, no sad faces right now. Today is about good stuff!” Amy says in her most chipper voice. Amy doesn’t do chipper very well, she’s the snarky, sarcastic sister. It’s kind of funny seeing her try so hard to cheer me up. I feel the corners of my mouth curling up into a small smile again. “There it is! There’s a smile!” she says in a cheesy voice, making me roll my eyes.
“Vincenzo called me last night, saying you may want us to come for a visit,” Daya says as she takes a seat on a lounge chair, stretching her legs out and rubbing her belly as she lets out a big puff of air.
