The Other Side of Reality
As soon as we stepped into the yard, the delicious smell of roasted turkey hit me.
An elderly woman with silvery hair was standing at the kitchen door, smiling at us.
"Melissa, you're back. And who's this?" she asked. Her gaze fell on me, and she said happily, "Oh, my. You brought home such a handsome young man this year."
Hearing that, my cheeks flushed, and I lowered my head.
"Grandma, this is my friend, Zachary Jensen," Melissa said with a smile.
"That's wonderful. Come in and warm yourselves," the elderly woman said. She was later introduced to me as Dorothy Foster.
