Hearing Lady Sharma Helen’s heart flutters; she feels relaxed now that she can talk to someone and someone can hear her out. "I just met her now after years of searching for her, and my heart is in my throat right now for the fact that I can’t talk to her or hug her." "We were just little when our parents left us; I failed her as a sister," she whimpers, staring at Kate.

We were going to have the final exams of our semester soon. Karan was going to give exams and also do his company’s work at the same time. So, he was very busy these days. At that time, the project he was going to bid on was very important as he told me. Karan was very busy because of this. Therefore, we hardly got time to meet and call each other. We only communicate through messages which were either ‘good morning’ or ‘goodnight’. Karan and I had hardly communicated which was torture for both of us.

His text popped up on my phone just as I plopped down on the bed. "Well, I am not what you call the perfect lady!" I texted immediately. "I highly doubt that." His reply came and I chuckled to myself. Aiden and I bumped into each other in a weird app, exchanged numbers and have been keeping each other's company intimately, since then. We haven't met, neither have we seen each other. Our interaction was strictly over text and I think we are both okay with that. We are both 18 and in 12th grade. "We will eventually see each other someday you know." He texted.

Unsurprisingly, after three weeks with the captain, I lost my voice and almost quit. After much pressure from the other members, I agreed to help the team again but only on one condition, I wouldn't be on the court. Instead, my best friend, Naza.

“Sadie, don't be upset. I'm doing all of this so we can have a better future together. I'll be traveling for work next week. If there's anything you want, just tell me. I'll bring it back for you.” I lowered my gaze, concealing the coldness in my eyes. Then, I said calmly, “Just focus on your trip.” However, this time, I simply wouldn't be waiting for him anymore.

For now, we are together. That will have to be enough.

And this time— we don’t stand apart. We stand together. Even if neither of us is ready to admit it.

Just us. *Waiting.*

I know there is nothing else I can do. Perhaps some people are meant to cross our paths just once, to touch our lives for a moment before we must part. Sometimes we cannot be friends no matter how much we want to, because of who we are or where we come from or the lines drawn between us long before we were born. I guess I will just hold this happy memory close and let it go. It was a beautiful meeting and I cannot help but feel a deep sense of regret that things cannot be different.
