Chapter 45 - Long Live The Queen Damon "Again," I commanded as Alora worked to keep the wings she had summoned to remain on her back. She had learned quickly how to handle the phoenix flames since she had already worked with the fire element. But now came the hard part, only half shifting.

The person on the other side stated. I had to clear my throat before I could respond “Angels shouldn’t have clipped wings.” “I understand hold just a moment.” The man that had answered pressed a few buttons and before I knew it, I could hear June’s voice through the phone, “Are you safe?” June was straight to the point, but in her line of work I assume she had to be.

Ambrose merely looked to that wall of flames, as a faint glowing figure slowly materialized before them. Eyes blazing brighter than The Seer's white orbs, hair glowing brighter than any ruby you have ever seen, skin illuminated like a candle in the darkness. Great sweeping wings of fire , stretching almost the entire width of the Assembly room, had more Ardanams crying out for mercy. Fire encircled wherever she stood, her steps bringing her ever closer to the stage. Her dress flickered and billowed around her, playing in and among her flames. A wickedly delighted smile curved on her lips, just as a vibrant and blazing crown of fire circled her head. The Pheonix had arrived.

It instantly evolved, as though there was a god ray erupting from within them. Behind her, a pair of huge flaming wings began to flap wildly. This pair of wings was made up of hundreds of long swords with terrifying flames. As they flapped, cracks could be seen clearly in the hollow. It was obvious that this pair of weapon wings was not only used to speed up and fly, but also to attack. Rumble! Behind her, explosive sounds began to ring out.

I clear my throat, “Come on, Divina, bring those wings out.” She sighs in defeat and says, “Fine, but you stay over there.” She rolls her shoulders and takes a deep breath and I watch as her upper back ripples and the skin over her shoulder blades split open and her magnificent wings burst forth. This time there are no blue flames, just Divina and her silvery blue wings. I walk over to her and run my fingers over her wings, and she shivers in response and ruffles her feathers up and out effectively knocking me back a few feet.

They moved skillfully, and quickly, opting to fight opponents that had still been in human form. Ambrosia fought just the same but had Tiana and Zephyr as back up. This allowed her to fight wolves as well. Zephyr's white wings were beautiful and almost blinding. I wished I could have had more time to take in their enthralling, majestic beauty. One look at them had you in a daze. I reluctantly tore my eyes away from them to look at Tiana's wings. It resembled a butterfly's with multicolors, the most prominent being bronze and gold.

"You’re the one who whispered to me in the dark when the Council was carving into my bones. You’re the 'Extinction' they were so afraid of." The figure—the Red-Winged Dante—stepped into the light. It was a perfect, terrifying blend of us. It had Dante’s lethal, massive frame and his predator’s stance, but from its spine erupted a pair of wings that were an exact, burning replica of mine. They weren't made of "Void-Lead" or "Obsidian-Gold." They were made of Primal Fire, a deep, arterial red that seemed to drink the light from the room.

My body started to burn. I pleaded again for whomever it was, to stop. “I can’t..breath..who are..you?” I said in between breaths as he laid against my back, pressing the length of his body into me. “Emm..shhhh..soon..soon my little dove. Your lovely..wings..will be clipped..ahh..” He sat up behind me, keeping the rhythm of the flickering flames against the wall.

Mane had just employed one of those many moves: Exploding Wings. Mane’s mumble was the trigger for the huge fiery wings that grew on his back. The wings were several dozens of meters long and several meters wide. When they appeared on Mane’s back they rose high into the sky, and flapped rapidly. Yet their beating didn’t lift Mane up or take him into the sky. With the beating of those wings, the cry of a Phoenix filled the ears of all who were here, and several large flames descended upon the retreating goblins, burning them all to a crisp. The fire was stronger, completely eliminating the goblins in less than a second.
