Blood gushed out from the deep cut. Claire distanced herself and screamed in pain as she pressed her hand on it. Blood dripped down her wrist. "W-what is wrong with you?" she eyed Helena in utter shock. The pain was burning her skin. She paced back slowly when she saw the smirk on Helena's pale face. Did she make a huge mistake in trying to help her? Helena giggled and her forked tongue appeared from the slit of her mouth. The bizarre appearance turned Claire pale. "I'm hungry for your blood..." Helena hissed happily as she lifted her hand. Long sharp nails came into view.

Helena performed a short backflip and landed safely on the ground. With a fierce sprint, she jumped in the air and made a substantial attempt to thrust the sword across his chest as he lay on the ground, but the beast rolled aside and she missed. Taking advantage of the missed attempt, Agregor rose up suddenly and caught hold of Helena’s should and sent her flying away. Helena landed on the ground with a thud but showed no sign of weakness or getting hurt.

Helena shrugged. During her conversation with Violet, she had hoped at least Violet would attack her. As Vero said that she is quite aggressive. But Helena did not face such a girl. With all my might I threw the arrow back up and it hit one of the hunters who flew down the cliff. When my body made contact with the ground I quickly ran over to Helena.

"Shouldn't you be in the comms room? We have three days before we march into the apocalypse." Helena climbed up the maintenance ladder, clutching a datapad to her chest. She wore oversized mechanic’s coveralls that swallowed her small frame, her silver-blue hair tied back with a piece of wire. She looked less like a princess and more like a scavenger, but her eyes were sharp.

We were already moving, sprinting toward the sound without hesitation and I hoped it was whoever had Helena so I could kill him with my bare hands. My prayers were answered as I turned the corner – fury flooded my veins. There she was—Helena, visibly inebriated, struggling against a man who was trying to shove her into a car. I rolled my eyes. “Ugh, Hunters.” Daniela grumbled, rolling her eyes to peer out the window. “It’s too quiet. Quiet isn’t the Ductus’s style.” She glared into the darkness. If she’s right about this clan, it is far too quiet for them. Most vampire nests or even entire clans I’ve encountered prefer stealth. It seems this clan likes to be bold and go for the kill. Each time I tried to clutch, it didn’t work, and my hopes of a fast escape came tumbling down. “God damn it. Why isn’t it working?” I shouted at myself. A light bulb dinged inside my head, and I remembered that Lukas had said this bike was clutched with the heel, not the toes. I buried my heel in the clutch and shifted into another gear, zooming on the road back to the city. A cry of relief shot out of my mouth, and I clutched again, speeding down the mountain. My mind was in a flurry of thoughts. Lukas had changed into a giant wolf and charged the Noctua men. He was out of his mind if he thought I would wait for him.
