“Wait here, reception has a package for me.” Serenity nodded as Noah left the apartment, locking the door behind him and she sighed. She’d never been one to sit still and she climbed to her feet, going to the bookshelf. Prying yet another tome off the shelf, she went back to the sofa and sat down, opening it. This book was slightly different than the others. It told of angels and their powers. Of their blood thirsty needs. Of their lust for violence. Every page was splattered with dark stains and Serenity told herself it couldn’t be blood…

[Rachel’s POV] Vincenzo invited me to the East Coast, saying we needed to discuss an alliance. This time, I did something unusual. Instead of taking a helicopter, I boarded a train alone. Not long after I sat down, a man wearing a cap and sunglasses took the seat across from me. He spoke first. “Don’t look at me. Just read a book.” I opened a book and replied quietly, “Victor, I told you I don’t want to see you again.”

Lila saw through it in ten seconds flat. Thirty four, rich as sin, class dripping from every gesture. She’d walked into the underground fight club where he was bleeding on the mat, handed him a silk handkerchief for his cut lip, and said, “You’re wasting talent on these animals. Come work for me.” He’d laughed. She hadn’t. Five years later, they were married. Two years after that, Dirty Angels opened its doors, velvet ropes, crystal chandeliers, music that beat like a heartbeat.

And suddenly…I knew exactly how I wanted to spend it. Me: I'm off today. Three dots appeared almost immediately. Angel: Come see me. I smiled. Me: Now? Is the Den even open this early? Angel: It opens when I say it does. A laugh escaped me. Arrogant bastard. Me: I'll be there soon. Angel: I'll be waiting, kitten. My stomach fluttered. The Angel's Den felt completely different during the day. Mostly because it was empty. No music. No masked strangers. No bartenders. Just the quiet elegance of black marble, burgundy furniture and gold. My heels echoed through the enormous room.

I read the Angel and demons, authored by Dan Brown. Duke gave it to me as a gift last valentines day because he knows that I love reading with a cute heart bracelet and with a teddy bear on it. I read until I fell asleep. Hoping for tomorrow when I open my eyes. He is already home sleeping beside me. Warming my body with his embrace.

It seemed like most of the humans here were kind. ‘It is because he wants you and you must not accept that.’ Serene interrupted and I ignored her. ‘We belong to Ansel!’ She shouted but still, I ignored her. “Thank you but yours is angelic.” “I doubt that. Besides, I am sure you have not seen an angel before.” “But I read the bible.” Bible? What was that? ‘It is humans’ holy book.’ Oh. ‘Thank you, Serene, I didn't know that. How did you know?’

That is not something we were aware she could do but I am extremely glad she can. I rushed to the boarder where Blake will be arriving shortly, when I see their car I’m overwhelmed with relief, we move aside and let them past then block the path again. Nothing comes but now we need a strategic plan to protect the boarders and if it’s the rogue king again we need to track him down. Angel tells me about what happened, “I don’t know how I knew I could do it, I just did! It was like an overwhelming need to protect your mum and get her out of there and I just kind pushed the air around me! It was exhilarating” she said sounding excited

She sat in the chair she’d previously vacated but kept her bottom on the edge, ready to leap up. Stella pulled out a drawer in her desk and brought out a book titled Angel’s Handbook. It wasn’t very thick and would easily fit in the palm of Helen’s hand. “Now, this book contains information for every job an angel might be assigned. You’re going to want to carefully read Chapter Six, ‘Fixing Things Up.’ It will explain everything to you.” Stella handed the book over, knocking over the paperweight in the process. She righted it as Helen opened the volume.
