Ace
The morning sun filtered through the windows of Ace’s apartment, casting long shadows across the floor as he sat on the edge of the bed, staring blankly at his phone. He hadn’t slept well—too many thoughts racing through his mind. Things with Lisa were... complicated. One moment, they seemed like they could start again; the next, he was reminded of all the damage done, not just between them but in every part of his life.
As he rubbed the tension from the back of his neck, the phone buzzed in his hand, interrupting his thoughts. Ace glanced at the screen, an unfamiliar number flashing. He debated letting it go to voicemail, but something tugged at him to answer.
