CHAPTER 18 Angelo walked into Monalisa’s office and met her applying a black nail polish on her fingernails as she happily hums. ‘Boss’ Angelo called while Lisa raised her head to listen to what he had to say. ‘It’s about Asher, the merchant we sell guns to’ Angelo says standing while Monalisa goes back to polishing her nails. ‘Asher’ Lisa says trying to remember who he was ‘is he the dude with a weird haircut who runs the underground black market in a dark alley at Wesley street’.

Celina replied too quickly. Annoyed that he had to bring up the girl's name. "What do you mean she's not here?" West asked, confused. Greg sighed inwardly. He had seen enough of Mr West's daughters for tonight and made to politely tell him that he would meet her some other time when... "Ah, there she is." West said, obviously excited at seeing his third daughter. Sighing again, Greg absently turned to see whoever she was. Time stood still and his breath got caught in his chest when he beheld the angelic young woman that paused on the stairs some distance away from them, her eyes scanning the room looking for someone...looking for him, he wished, to his own surprise.

So, I could not try and track her down, I pulled out my phone and called Zac. “I need you to get back here now” I yelled into the phone. “On it” I heard tyres screeching and assumed that he was doing a u turn to come back to me. I was not safe here anymore. The only way to get rid of evidence was to burn the place down. Thankfully the place was not under my name, so nothing would come back to me. As I waited for Zac I doused the place in gasoline. I stood outside smoking a cig while waiting as soon as he pulled up I flicked my butt towards the house and then watched as the gasoline caught and the house I had tortured and killed so many women started to burn.

Broken electronics, lost texts, and food or water scraps that would have meant the difference between life and death were among the items discovered in these ruins. Under layers of dust and soot, the elaborate decorations on a broken urn were hardly discernible when she brushed her fingers over its jagged edges. Ash from the empire covered her flesh and clung to her clothing. The more she searched, the more she understood that the fire had just scattered the ruins of a broken world, even though she had previously believed it had destroyed everything. She had once been a part of a world that she had known.

She drove straight for a while until she reached a downhill road with very few cars, where she swiftly maneuvered the steering wheel. The car skidded, spun in place three times, and then, without slowing down, crashed directly into a tree. In an instant, the front of the car burst into flames. Hunter smiled to himself as he achieved the desired result. He took out his phone, snapped a picture, and drove off nonchalantly. Half an hour later, Flint and Maple rushed to the hospital, devastated. They released an obituary. "We are deeply saddened to announce that our beloved daughter, Luna Baxter, passed away on December 20, 2024, at 8:07 pm, due to a car accident. She was 27 years old.

As if she had already chosen the world she wanted to live in. I rose. My knees left prints in the mud, half filled by the river’s edge. When I stood, the cold air pulled me back into myself. The moon trembled across the surface, broken by current. The ash began to move downstream, slow and gleaming, as if the river itself was carrying the dead toward whatever waited for them. I turned away and followed the sound of fire rising in the distance. Kael (POV) The ash came first.

I'll make it up to you when I get back. I stared at the messages on the screen, then tapped into a livestream pushed to my feed. In the livestream, Cameron was accompanying Lucy as she picked out a dress for a charity gala. His eyes followed her every move. I didn't reply. Instead, I quietly deleted every trace of him from my contacts. One final buzz came through. It was a confirmation text. [Your ID cancellation was successful.] Suddenly, chaos broke into the livestream. Cameron's assistant, Brendan Cole, burst into the frame, gasping for breath, his face pale as ash. He held a document tightly in his hands as he ran up to Cameron.

"You want me to use my way to kill her?" He wasn't messing around. His hard body pressed against mine firmly as he made me stand. "Spider!" He ordered and I snapped out of my daze. If he kills her the way he does then she will go through hell. "Shoot me, please!" Angelina begged, horror covering her eyes as Spider grabbed her hand again. "Please, Queen. Please..." "Stop!" I mumbled and he heard it. Angelina closed her eyes as I closed mine and shot her. I didn't see, but I heard a skull-cracking sound and felt numb.
