★▪︎EMMELINE▪︎★ So,I started keeping a journal. It feels… weird. Like, who am I even writing this for? But Anastasia, the healer, she said it could be important. For 'future generations', she said, all serious-like. Like more people like me, like this baby growing inside me, are just gonna pop up. The thought is both terrifying and… strange. A little lonely, maybe? But yeah, I’m doing it. Writing down how my body feels different each day, the weird aches, the cravings that make absolutely no sense, the way my belly is starting to show even though it feels like just yesterday I found out.

Back home, if I was lucky, two days of meals combined would not match what I had in a single sitting here. And that was on a good week. My stomach does not complain. It has learned patience. It knows how to wait. It knows how to quiet itself and accept what it gets. I sit cross legged on the bed with the journal they handed out on the first day. The cover is smooth and thick, the pages creamy and untouched. No real instructions came with it. Just a suggestion to write. Reflect. Process. I flip it open and stare at the blank page. Instead of writing, I start doodling in the margins.

Taking the empty plates out of the room but leaving the chocolate on the table. I ignore the chocolate and dip my head in the rock bed. I take out my journal and start writing. I like making cartoons of people when I am sad. But I create it only for the people I like. My list is very short though. Of course, my sister comes first and then comes our bus uncle. He asked, not wanting to give away that he knew they were actually letters. He couldn't have her knowing that he knew the truth.
