I’d rather lick a dog’s puke. “Alaric,” Steve calls from the next cubicle. “Pancakes after work?” I shrug, “Maybe.” Steve is a chill person, one of those unproblematic guys who only care about eating and farting without making any sound. I couldn’t stop staring, even though I knew it was obvious. “Lucy,” Blake said, his voice low but carrying across the small group. “This is some of the crew.” They nodded, murmured hellos, and I forced a polite, shaky smile.
