A month ago in New York, Piper was derailed after Sebastian’s refusal to let her parents see their daughter. She did not even know the girl’s name or where Rush’s father lived. The last time she met Sebastian’s father was at the hospital and she was too eager to return to Ezrah to care. Piper walked into a bar and began ordering drinks. By the time she was done, her legs felt like jelly, and she fell by the wayside before the cab she ordered could arrive.

Wow, didn’t take you long to cut that loose, huh?”

“I just told you my truthful answer. I was out drinking blood.” “That’s it, I’m done. You’re grounded for two months.
