Ready to get this over with.” I clap Chase on the shoulder. “You and me both,” I sigh, looking across the room to where Theo’s dad, Alpha Anders, is standing and chatting with Jax’s old man, Alpha Damian, and Chase’s father, Alpha Vaughn. I’m sure Chase is referring to the shadow pack conflict in general, but right now, I’d settle with getting this meeting over with. Council meetings are always a little painful.

He is qualified for the job, and he’s had his own past in a world with men like Lorenzo.”

It’s a pleasure to meet you.” Leah sat down on the sofa next to her father facing Theo and assessed him. He seemed nice enough, but would he be strong enough in the future to stand by her side when she eventually took over the Sullivan clan. Leah doubted it. The man may be kind of charming, but charm didn’t win fights. If her clan were ever to be attacked in the future, Leah didn’t think she would be able to depend on him to have her back.

But if it came down to it, I’d choose my fiery soul over the throne. No one spoke a word, and I took that as my cue to leave. I was surprised none of them reacted the way I thought they would, making things easier for me. But then I got a phone call from the one person I didn’t want to see or speak to. Antonio Daniels. He was Seraphina’s father. He wanted me to come to his pack as soon as possible because there was an emergency. I thought it was a matter of life and death, that something was probably wrong with Seraphina, not knowing it was all a setup.

Leonard spoke harshly. "Are you going to support your son?" Gael asked. He was finding it hard to breathe and his heartbeat was off the beat. He was almost suffering from a heart attack. "I will never support that stupid and spoilt brat. If Ashton doesn't come back then I can as well find another pack or I can just become a lone wolf." Leonard said with absolute sincerity. He will never betray Ashton in this lifetime or the next or the next because he knew that he was not just your everyday alpha like Kelly.
