“They… they’re still warm, Alpha. They couldn’t have been dead long. And… we heard screaming. Horrible screams. Sounds like nothing I’ve ever heard before… like… monsters.”
Alec’s frown deepened. He tried to picture the sounds Garrick described—raw, guttural, and unrecognizable, a mix of growls, screams, and shrieks that seemed to echo unnaturally through the trees.
His stomach twisted. Something was off. Very off.
“Take me to them,” Alec said firmly, his voice leaving no room for argument. “Now.”
Garrick bowed deeply. “Follow me, Alpha.”
They moved quickly into the dense woods, the soft crunch of leaves underfoot the only sound besides their own breathing.
