Chapter 033 The Blood Tree The forest didn’t look the same at night. It pressed in on you, all shadows and whispers, the cold seeping into your bones until you couldn’t tell if the shiver was fear or the air itself. I’d been here before the ridge line that curved toward the deeper heart of the Appalachian wild but never this far. My mother had once warned me: Some places werewolves avoid for a reason. Tonight, I was going to walk into one.

The green mountains in the front, were blanketed with a sheet of trees and bushes which occurred so small and tiny as if the mountains were covered with green blanket. Just a mere look at them and my head was spinning already. I gripped around his bicep feeling scared. We were like few inches away from our deaths. Our one wrong move, and we would fall down the rock, right in the valley.

This guy could scare everyone; she was sure of that. She shifted her gaze to his face. The man had a beautiful face and those eyes that scared the living daylights off her. They were intense, like the trees of the Appalachian Mountains. They say the Appalachian is filled with mysteries and dangers, just like his beautiful eyes. She wondered what made him the way he was. Ruthless, rude, and almost murderous, in all her thoughts, she didn’t realize when he opened his eyes. When she shifted her gaze back to him, she found him already staring at her.

I whispered. Autumn had made me unhappy, but I couldn’t put my finger on why. Until now, that is. Despite the gorgeous colors and mysterious scenery, a sense of impending dread lingered in the back of my mind. I wasn’t intended to be here in the first place. It stood as big as an eight-story skyscraper and appeared to be a massive, sleeping monster, and it was a little terrifying, if a small mountain could make you feel that way. I was filled with the urge to scream, but I couldn't; the wind kept slapping me shut. After 2 minutes of turbulent speed, he finally came to a halt. Between the breathtaking views and outdoor adventures that await around almost every turn, then there was something mesmerizing about exploring such a majestic terrain. The towns scattered throughout the Blue Ridge region added to the blissful experience with their history and rich Appalachian culture but now all that is just a dream now. Things are different now, with the animals roaming the woods and mountains. If you can see them, then you’re already dead. If you can hear them, then you’re not far from them either which means you run for your dear lives..

Flashback Monte Rio, CA A black car drove through a desolate road. On the right and left are full of dense and lush forest trees. Inside the car, Anne, sitting next to Jack, is feeling anxious. Jack who was driving the car glanced at Anne who was squeezing the hem of her dress. "It's okay, everything will be fine." Jack tried to calm Anne down, as if he knew what was going through her mind. "I'm scared," she said hesitantly.
