April said, unabashedly looking me up and down like I had done to so many women in my life. Kelly hustled out the door, leaving me alone with the exquisite redhead. I almost felt sexuality drip off of her like sweat. "Can I get you a glass?" I asked April, motioning to the wine. "Please," she said, "I'd love one." "Help yourself to anything." I nodded in the direction of the cocaine. "I'll never say no to that," she said. I poured her a glass of wine and brought it to her. "Do you want some?" she offered. I nodded, and she skillfully and enthusiastically cut up lines.

But for now, all they could do was support her and hope she would open up to them when she was ready. April took a deep breath, steeling herself as she carried the tray to Lucifer’s chambers. Her mind was a whirlwind of emotions—fear, anger, sorrow. She knew she had to keep her composure, to act as if nothing was wrong, even though her world had been turned upside down. When she reached Lucifer’s door, she hesitated for a moment, memories of his cold words flashing through her mind. But she pushed them aside, determined not to let her emotions show. She knocked softly before entering, her heart heavy as she approached the man who held her fate in his hands.

Flashing a smile, April assured her mother, her mind racing with several thoughts. "Do you have a plan?" "Yes, I do." April smiled sinisterly. She leaned back in her seat leisurely, "It's all I have been thinking about. It will take place during grandmother's birthday and the celebration of my return. I will scheme so well that Elsie will not be able to face society again." April's mother eagerly expressed her anticipation for the moment. She clapped her hands in excitement. "Good. I can't wait for that moment. Aiden is the only reason why that girl is still in that house despite her numerous affairs and scandals."

“I agree wholeheartedly, Your Grace.” * * * * Lindsay stood next to Barry in front of a clergyman as he read out of the Book of Common Prayer. Her grandmother had told her she’d be nervous today, but Lindsay wasn’t. Excitement ran through her veins, and she couldn’t stop smiling. Love blossomed inside of her, and each new day with Barry would only be an adventure, she was certain.
