he asked, his voice firm but measured. April's voice trembled as she spoke, her words punctuated by sniffles and sobs. "I-I plead to the elders to grant me the opportunity to speak with the Alphas individually," she stammered, her eyes darting between the three of us. "If I fail to broker peace between them, I, April Matthew, will willingly lay down my life in atonement."

She asked as April sighed, "I'm sorry, Autumn, but it's not my place to tell you, my brother will come to you," she said as Autumn sat back down as her head hung low, "But what if he doesn't?" She asked as April lifted her chin, "Don't worry, he will, and you know why?" She asked as Autumn shook her head, "Because he loves you," April replied as Autumn smiled before it suddenly turned into a frown.

That her words dug deeper into the wounds she believed David had left in April’s psyche. April tried to show the pain she knew Chloe craved to see. She’d worked through it long ago. April left that stage and them behind a long time ago. Her hardest problem came remembering to stay in the downtrodden mindset. Therefore, she avoided these women. They’re shallow cows. “See, and everyone thought I was the uncouth one.” April said this. Chloe’s hand appeared inches from April’s face, caught by David’s hand at her wrist. “Not here Chloe! What are you thinking? She could charge you with assault and she’d have witnesses.”

With love, April.” The letter slipped from Mia’s hands, fluttering softly to the cold, tiled floor. A silence fell over them, broken only by the sound of their weeping. Mia threw her arms around Susan, sobbing into her shoulder. Mrs. Angela buried her face in Andreas’ chest, her hands clutching at his shirt as she broke down. He did not read the letter, well, it was for the best, at least she had saved herself from embarrassment. However, April did not know why a part of her felt sad and broken that he never tried to read the heartfelt letter she wrote for him. He probably dumped it the moment she left without taking a glance at it. But, why does she feel sad? She was supposed to be rejoicing right now not feeling sad.

But for now, all they could do was support her and hope she would open up to them when she was ready. April took a deep breath, steeling herself as she carried the tray to Lucifer’s chambers. Her mind was a whirlwind of emotions—fear, anger, sorrow. She knew she had to keep her composure, to act as if nothing was wrong, even though her world had been turned upside down. When she reached Lucifer’s door, she hesitated for a moment, memories of his cold words flashing through her mind. But she pushed them aside, determined not to let her emotions show. She knocked softly before entering, her heart heavy as she approached the man who held her fate in his hands.
