Chapter 64: Santa Cruz Night Tuesday – The Day The next morning, sunlight slanted through the tall arched windows of BludHeaven Academy’s cafeteria, turning the polished marble floors into pools of liquid gold. The usual morning chaos was in full swing: younger students darting between tables, trays clattering, the rich scent of fresh coffee mingling with warm pastries and something faintly metallic that only the older vampires seemed to notice.

There was no way she'd be able to sleep with so many questions in her head anyway. As they sat on Carrie's bed with bowls of cereal, Carrie began to explain. "Shadowbrook Academy is a school for supernatural beings, or genuses. It helps us develop and perfect our supernatural abilities, and also nurtures any natural talents or hobbies we have, all while giving us a regular education." Zeda's eyes widened as Carrie listed the different genuses in the academy: witches, mages, werewolves, vampires, and demons. She choked on her cereal when Carrie mentioned that Lucian was the only demon.

I heard one say. The floating one stepped forward and knelt beside me. A soft cloak wrapped around my shoulders from nowhere, and he offered me a gentle smile, though his pitch black eyes held no warmth. “Easy now,” he said calmly, as if finding naked girls in impact craters was just another Tuesday. “You’ve been struck by lightning” “No shit,” I snapped, blinking fast. “Wh....who are you?” His head tilted. “We’re with the Arcane Order of Balance.” “The what now?”

I was amazed by the way the campus sprawled with majestic Gothic buildings, lush forests, and manicured lawns. At the center was the Brooke Hall, with its towering clock, and it was surrounded by students in different uniforms. Lycans in navy blue, Alpha Heirs in crimson red, and Betas in forest green. “This is it, girls,” Avan said, his car purring smoothly along the pavement, passing beneath a grand stone archway adorned with the academy's crest: a snarling wolf's head surrounded by crescent moons. Savannah and I squealed, our excitement bubbling over as we took in the beauty of the place while he parked. But before I could fully savor the moment, Avan’s voice cut through our excitement.

I haven't found mine yet but I'm not too worried because there is still time. I go to the werewolf academy for both boys and girls located on a small island in a secluded area and I'm in my last year. I and my twin chose to go to this academy rather than the other one just for Alphas, Betas and Gammas because we don't believe that just because we have a higher position that we should be superior, I mean we get the classes that we need at our academy and we befriend more people. The other academy is located a couple islands away but far enough that it would take a week to travel to each place by boat. Anyway, on with the story…

Very gruesome but at least we’re allowed to shift. An Arcapy is a beast that dwells in caves just outside of our campus. It looks like a combination of different animals, with sharp claws and scales covering its body. It has horns, fangs, and a menacing, wild look. We have to hunt it, kill it and then bring back it’s head. It would be simple enough if they weren’t so fierce about protecting their territory. I’m excited for the hunt and I can’t wait to see how my little lucky charm handles this one.

From my calculations, not every account has been locked inside the game, but there are too many now. For the next hour, I paced around the room, unable to stay in one spot for long. Neither Luka nor Jake was able to access the server completely, as an outside force was blocking them. It was obvious Arcane Realm had been hacked, and their skills rivaled Luka’s and Jake’s combined effort.

What I didn't get is why did they have to do that? Can't we all just be nice to each other? I thought. I continued telling my story to her until we reached Arcanus' grand gate. On top of it was a beautiful stone arch with the words 'Arcanus, the Grand Academy of Mages' engraved on it. Seeing this has made me emotional, tears of joy fell from my eyes. "Are you alright, Lady Fairchild? The Entrance Examinations will be starting at any moment," Theresa said as she turned back to call my attention.

He strolled to the board, pausing mid-step to glance over the class. “This won’t be the class where you learn fireballs or teleportation,” he said. “If that’s what you want, you’re in the wrong room.” Silence. “Good. Because this is the class that will make you dangerous.” He turned back to the board and scrawled three words in elegant, sweeping letters: The Arcane Veins. Then, facing them again—his grin wicked, eyes alight with manic curiosity—he said, “Let’s begin with the source of all magic…”
