Then Arthur stepped back, his lips curling into a sneer.
“You’re pathetic,” he said, his voice sharp and cutting. “Both of you. And you,” he added, turning his glare on me. “You’d better hope you’re nothing more than a temporary distraction. Because if you are anything more, you’ll regret ever crossing paths with my son.”
I opened my mouth to respond, but Jaxon held up a hand, silencing me.
“Get out, Arthur,” he said, his voice icy.
Arthur didn’t move. He stood there for a moment, his eyes sweeping over both of us with something that resembled disgust.
