"So just die peacefully. Once you've turned to ash, I'll be Damien's one and only love." Then, I removed the SIM card from my phone and severed all contact through our blood vow. In the last twenty hours before I turned to ash, I had finally accomplished one remarkable thing. Now, I just wanted to walk the final stretch of my path in peace. The sky had completely darkened, and the neon lights outside the motel flickered with a harsh glare. I dragged my weak body out of the room and headed toward the old antique district on the edge of the city. It was the only place in this world that might still accept me.

The hatch shifts slightly. Locked, but old. Rust weakens everything over time. Rowan uses the last of his strength and slams into it once—hard. The hatch gives. It bursts open with a metallic shriek. Rowan freezes. Sound. Too much sound. Too loud. But it’s done. The hatch is open. Cold air rushes in from above, carrying street scent—oil, smoke, wet pavement. Rowan climbs out. I follow. We emerge into a narrow alley behind a row of boarded buildings, the city’s glow distant but present, streetlights bleeding pale light into the darkness.

The fear and grief I had been holding in broke loose the moment I saw her. "Cassia!" My voice came out hoarse as I shouted with everything I had: "Save my father! Hurry, save my father!"

Few hours later, Asher’s castle; Axel walks in with a bag in his hand, blood dropping slowly from it. “Asshole! I’m here again alive and all well!” He shouted and throw the bag on the floor. The nose he has cut off from the ten guys rolled on the floor, “You need to get the part that she’s not yours!” He said laughing. “You’re disturbing the peace of the castle” Raven said walking down the stairs in her night wear. “Whore!” He called her while she hissed at him immediately.

The howling mountain wind tore through the ravine, carrying a freezing mist that clung to the skin like a shroud of wet ash. Outside the safehouse, the dense canopy of pine trees whipped violently against the gray sky, bending as if bowing to the massive diesel engine rumbling up the narrow access road. Headlights cut through the swirling fog, two twin beams of harsh, artificial white slashing across the timber walls before the heavy silhouette of an armored tactical personnel carrier ground to a halt fifty yards from the cabin.

Hot tears. They burned my red bumpy skin. “Help. Anyone?” My voice was raspy. I didn't only feel fear. I could taste it slithering down my throat. I felt a presence. A strong presence. Superior. Powerful. “Embrace it.” A thick and uneven whispering voice spoke. The ash I tried to scrub off from my body slowly dispersed into the air, forming a ball of thick dark fog. Fiery eyes shone from within the fog. “Embrace it.” It said louder, more austere.

He held a small leather pouch in one hand and a glass vial filled with dark ash in the other. “Miss me?” Axel’s voice dripped with arrogance as he tossed the pouch onto the table. “I got what you asked for. Moulton Ash and Grey Sand. Not an easy find, I might add.” Zane stepped forward, his eyes narrowing as he inspected the pouch. “And what do you want in return?”

Akshara wondered about the joy of the birds and asked Nail, “Can they can understand me?” Nail nodded positively and replied with joy, “Axe, you can talk to them. They can understand you.” Ruko smiled at Akshara to help her get her feet, “Well, you are called Axe.” Akshara asked their names in return, they introduced themselves, “Alaso the rude” she left the room with a loud bang on the door. Ruko turned to other girls to warm them not to abuse Akshara with their words. “Me, Nail”

I hardly caught him in time, locking my arms around his chest as his claws scratched the thin air, merely inches from Ashish’s throat. Goddess damn it! “Argh!” Alex growled. It was not at Ashish, but at me for holding him back. “Alex!” I gritted out, slamming my feet into the ground to keep us both upright. “Control yourself!” “Stay out of this, Axel!” His voice was deeper, guttural… almost unrecognizable. His eyes glowed gold faintly and I sensed Donotrom at the surface. Ashish only smirked, lifting his palms. “Calm down, pup. I didn’t do anything.”

Now that her aura devolved because of her fear, they didn’t seem to be held back by the frost. Ashley only went to drink his order as Roxanne moved back to finish the Sazerac that he gave her. After a few more minutes, they left together at a slow pace, Roxanne even linking her arm with Ashley’s. She didn’t look at those men who sized up Ashley’s capability to fight them back.
