Ashley’s POV The sun was too damn hot, beating down like it had a personal grudge. My skin was already sticky with sweat, even though I hadn’t stepped out for more than five minutes. I sat on the edge of the bed, one leg bouncing, phone pressed to my ear as I stared at the silent screen. No buzz, no message, no call back. Nothing. Aliyah finally picked up, her voice low like she was trying to hide from someone. "Still nothing. I’ve tried everyone, Ash. They’re not answering. They’ve all pulled out."

Emily said, finally getting to the point, Ashley's eyes flashed with anger that Emily was overjoyed. “What sort of nonsense is this…did you call me for cheap talks!” Ashley spat out and rose from the sofa. Emily wasn't bothered about Ashley's outburst. But slowly picked up a glass of champagne and took a sip. “I'm sure you've seen the sighs…every little action…those too are together…and you are the foolish bride, Ashley…. Ace doesn't want you, he wants Shania,” Emily spoke with disdain in her eyes, making Ashley even angrier. Ashley stormed out of the room angrily, leaving Emily smirking from ear to ear.

"Don’t play games with me. What are you trying to pull with that investor?" Ashley tilted her head slightly. "I was just being polite. Isn’t that what you wanted? For me to act as your perfect wife?" Alex scoffed, running a hand through his hair. "I don’t like the way he looked at you." "Looked at me?" She let out a small, humorless laugh. "I thought I was made for nothing, remember?" His eyes narrowed, but he didn’t take the bait. Instead, he stepped closer, his voice dropping lower. "I know what you’re doing, Ashley. Whatever you think you saw or heard, you’re overthinking it."

laughed Christine. "In case you haven't noticed, Christine, I'm not exactly beating them off with a stick.
