I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket and I reach for it. “Did you find her?” I ask Asher once I pick up. “Yes, she's here. She's injured, but nothing too serious. She’s a bit dizzy and she passed out a while ago, but I saw her and I talked to the doctor who treated her!” he tells me and I immediately sigh in relief.

Her cheeks flushed and she was instantly hot.

Asher raised his hands in surrender, “ I guess I’ll have to hold on to my question.” “ Might as well get it over with.” “ Would you like to see them? Your step mother and sisters?” He asked and she shook her head. “ I can’t see them. Not right now.” She voiced her thoughts, the pain fresh in her mind. Asher made to speak but his ringtone wafted into the air. He excused himself and what he heard sent him down a spiral. “ Rebecca’s dead.”

The first Raven went down hard, blood splattering across the road. Ashley swerved, gravel flying. “It is an ambush! Cartel—north route!” Ace’s voice broke through static. “Hold on, I’m coming!” Rafe shouted, “Fall back!” But half his men were already down. The SUVs boxed the survivors in, closing fast. Ashley pushed her bike hard, dodging bullets. One SUV turned to ram her. She slid sideways, fired twice through the windshield, and watched it flip over in flames. She didn’t see the next truck until it hit her. The impact threw her off the bike. She hit the road and rolled, helmet scraping sparks. Pain shot through her arm. She stopped, coughing, the taste of blood in her mouth.

Ashley burst out. Lisa gaped ar her. “Woah.” Lisa said. “You need to relax with the thinking you might just be overdoing it there.” Ashley sighed. “Look I don’t think you should be thinking this far.” Lisa warned. “I can tell you that Liam has never done anything like this for anyone.” Then the car started and Dean drove off “I can’t help feel anxious.” Ashley said. “He rescued me from my pack and saved me from Ace. If he didn’t rescue me I don’t know what will have happened to me.”

With their expertise, Blair and Alisha found solace in knowing that Ashier was in good hands and that his recovery would be supported. Leaving the infirmary, a sense of relief washed over them all.
