Right in the middle of the clearing was a small brook. The water was so clear, I could see the pebbles and tiny plants under the surface. Moonlight danced on top of it, making it sparkle like tiny diamonds. The water made this soft, calming sound as it moved—like a gentle whisper, over smooth round stones that lined the edges.

Iris THE YOUNG girl was trapped inside the glass-walled room. When her body began to tremor. She wrapped her arms around herself as she spun around looking for an exit, but there wasn’t any that her unique blue eyes could find. “M-mom?” Her voice was shaking. “Mom, I’m s-scared. Can you please come and get me out of here?” she pleaded and cried. Her chin and lips trembled, but no one seemed to hear her pleas.

The words ripple through me with a warmth that feels like home. Not possessive. Not hungry. Certain. My identity thins further, becoming more distributed not gone, just everywhere inside her. It’s like falling asleep in someone’s arms but still hearing the world through their heartbeat. I drift. Clara drifts. Claria gathers us gently, like threads pulled into a single braid. The realm around us begins to dissolve the divine walls fading, the sky cracking open to reveal the mortal world waiting outside. I feel air again. Wind.
