She had always dreamed of owning her own coffee and book shop and after high school she took some business courses online then bought the old book shop on the main street. After putting some work into it she was able to convert the big old used book shop into a coffee and book shop, where she had shelves of used books available in and around the front and near the back she had taken out a store room to put in the kitchen and the counter for her coffee shop. Calista replied, holding her phone firmly while walking out of her portable office in the coffee shop. The coffee shop, named "Cal's Brew," was a cozy and inviting space with warm wooden floors and large windows that let in plenty of natural light. The walls were adorned with local artwork and shelves filled with books and plants. Soft ambient music played in the background, creating a relaxed atmosphere. Comfortable seating arrangements, including plush armchairs and wooden tables, provided a perfect spot for customers to unwind or catch up on work. All this was put in place by Anthony. A sly smile cut across her face; owning something felt right.

The real business that was happening in there was prostitution, maybe even human trafficking or drug dealing was going on in that coffee shop who knows? I walked into the bookstore “Good morning everybody” I said with excitement all over my tone. I was walking into my own book store after all. “Hello sir” some of the staff members nodded. “Why does he sound so happy?” some of the staff members chatted. “Abi, please follow me to my office” I instructed Abigail as I walked through the stairs to my office.

I hated that, knowing there are children out there having their parents or parent being taken away from them. God is truly the only one that stayed with me the whole time. All the ups and downs. Overthinking really makes time pass very quickly that I didn't realise that I missed my stop 10 mins ago. I got off the next stop and started walking back - only 15 mins walk from here to the cafe. Ryan's Cafe was not just a cafe it also had a small book corner where people can bring books to sit there and read for free without having to order anything. It's amazing in my opinion. The bakery there is also the best especially the cookies baked by Ryan himself.

This was a beautiful sight and I couldn’t help but stare. It wasn’t just a coffee shop but also a bookstore, you could tell the owner paid attention to detail. ‘Did Lucas know I wasn’t going to turn down his offer’ I walked right in behind him, the seats were made of pine wood, a chandelier above each seats, he pulled a chair for me then we waited for the menu. “This is really nice, how did you find this place” I asked. “I have been here a couple times” he answered. We placed our orders, I asked for a latte and chocolate cake while he ordered iced coffee.

The warm lights gave the cafe an ethereal and cozy glow. I ordered my usual honey cinnamon latte and sat on the far right corner near the bookshelves. My shift was due to start at around 9 and I had 30 minutes to kill so picked up a book on Greek mythology from the shelf while I waited for my coffee. It was a kind of place where book lovers handed out their well-loved books for this cafe, where people can exchange their recommendations and get to explore new genres. This cafe has been running for a little under a decade hence the shelves increased to hold onto the new books.

“You treated me to lunch. How about I treat you to a cup of coffee? Don’t you usually have coffee in the afternoon?” She clearly wanted some herself, just didn’t want to admit it. Clever cover story. She turned half-way around, half-smiling. "It's bookstore coffee, Mr. Blackwood. Not poison." A silence. Then— "Julian," he corrected softly. Lena's hands froze on the mug. He’d never told her his first name before. She turned, her smile softening. “Alright. Julian, then.” She poured two mugs before he could argue further. “You can decline the second cup, but I’ll be offended.”
