Alex's expression did not change and there was no less iciness in his gaze either. "Alex——" Helen's lips moved, as if she wanted to say something. But she was persuaded by Nina who was next to her. "Aunt Helen, it's normal for Alex to have such thoughts. After all, a company like Aether must have a lot of things going on." She looked at Alex. "I heard that Aether recruits interns every quarter. I can start as an intern." Although Nina lowered her standards, her tone when she spoke did not sound like she wanted to discuss it. Instead, it was more like she had made a decision directly and informed Alex.

I used the opportunity to mention the few things I knew of his firm, the fact that he is responsible for major acquisitions, doing financials, taxes, and payroll for thousands of companies, and governmental agencies, audits for said companies and agencies, advising hundreds of companies, and so much more. Mr. Thornton arches an eyebrow with a look that tells me he is highly impressed. He offered a small smile as I continued--getting my internship with your firm will be a dream come true, but I know it's a long shot as I am sure there will be hundreds, maybe even thousands of applications. At least it was good to know that I wasn’t the only one receiving those stares. He shook his head no and those who could see him laughed. To be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’d pissed his pants. “I said we’d go to two companies that’d be open to receiving interns in the coming years. You’d be surprised to find out who it is.” The look of pride on his face had me guessing one name for this ‘very good friend’ of his and it started with a J and ended in a D.

Max I go to the accounting office, fifteen minutes after Ellie is supposed to start her day. Walking, I say to Andrew, “How are the interns?” Andrew smiles nervously, “They are fine.” “What do you have them doing?” I asked. Looking around, I say, “I would like to interview them.” “Of course. May I ask why?” Andrew asked, holding his fake smile. “Working here is an amazing opportunity for them. I want to know what they have learned. Take me around and introduce me.”

“How can I help you?” I swallowed hard and snapped my attention back to her, trying to calm my nerves. “Hi, I’m Audrey Thatcher. I’m here for the summer internship program.” The receptionist’s face lit up. “Oh, wonderful! We’ve been expecting you. Let’s get you signed in and set up with your ID badge, and then the tour guide will take you upstairs to join the others.” After a quick photo and some paperwork, I was handed a shiny new ID card. As I clipped it to my blouse, I couldn’t help but feel a surge of excitement that made my palms itch. This was really happening. I was here, at Brooks Designs, ready to start my internship.

I pointed at one advertisement on laptop. "Read it loud." Sam said sitting on opposite side of bed munching caramel popcorn. "Can't you stop eating for like two minutes and come see for yourself?" After the applause settled, Adrian added, “Of course, these are just my additional rules. The university’s standard policies remain applicable. Starting tomorrow, security will be tighter. If you don’t like it, you are free to leave the school. Am I clear?” “Yes, Sir!” “Yes, Mr. King!” “Now, we move on to more good news,” Adrian said. “As the new owner, I am opening internship opportunities in my company and with ADLEY & Co.
