The Very Thought of You: The Thorntons Book 2

The Very Thought of You: The Thorntons Book 2

Megan swallowed the retort that sat on her tongue, wanting to remind her mother that there had been few dinners where she would’ve even noticed Megan’s vegetable-hiding underneath the haze of booze. “I’m just tired. Sorry I’m such terrible company,” she said instead. “Are you sad about your store?” James asked. James, at the age of six, had just finished first grade and was growing like a weed. Nobody knew where he was getting his burst of height from—Sara was average height and so was James’s father. James liked to say that he got his height from his soon-to-be stepfather Harrison. “Yeah, I am sad,” Megan replied. “I can’t stop thinking about it.”

“It is harmless. I just like imagining what he might think when he finds them. He seems kind. The kind of guy who actually cares about the stories, you know?” Across the street, James stepped outside to adjust the sidewalk display. He stretched his arms overhead, his shirt riding up just enough to show a sliver of toned stomach. I bit my lip and sighed dreamily. “God, he is so cute when he does that.” Mia shook her head, amused. “You have it bad. Why do not you just go over there and say hi? Buy a book. Talk about literature. You are a lit major, for crying out loud.”

The Day She Stopped Waiting

The Day She Stopped Waiting

Fair. Apparently being a baby wasn't a valid excuse. Reasonable honestly. Several minutes later she disappeared. God. Then returned carrying an alphabet book. Fair. A very large alphabet book. Reasonable. The kind usually intended for children who could sit upright. God. Not babies who occasionally sneezed at random. Fair. Then Lily sat directly in front of Peanut. Reasonable. Opened the book. God. And school began. Fair. "A." Reasonable. Peanut stared. God.

10 chapters in and I hope it’s second chance book. I love a good “leaving my shitty husband for a better man” plot but sometimes I love a good “I need to get my wife back” plot as well. Sometimes I want to read about how a relationship was pulled back from the brink and I feel this is goi to be it.
