It echoed off the canyon walls. "God, she’s so pathetic, Victoria," Austin’s recorded voice sneered. "That weak, omega scent... it makes me want to gag. I look at her face and I just see a charity case. Once the old man signs over the deed, I’m dumping her in the woods and letting the rogues have the leftovers." Austin froze. His eyes darted to the sky.

She turned to him and stated in an eerily calm voice, “It’s been long enough. I figured it’s time to move on.” “Move on?” Brett’s expression changed the moment he heard the statement. He reached forward and grabbed her hand tightly, “What do you mean by that?” “Let go! You’re hurting me!” Claudia frowned and shrugged his hand off when she felt the strength of his grip. She massaged her hands which had become slightly sore and red. Brett realized he may have overreacted. He remembered he had to play the persona of his brother, Arthur Maxwell. He tried to suppress the raging emotions inside him but still could not hold back the urge to ask, “You’re leaving?”

I ask, concerned that the kids are using him as a jungle gym. “Yes.” I chuckle. “Can you pass him the phone?” “I’ll try. He’s helping Addison on the monkey bars. He’s busy.” He runs off, and the phone's movement blurs his face, causing Hera and me to laugh. These kids are incredible. How can I have a family like the one she’s created and make them mine? “Mr. Thomas wants to speak with you!” Aiden yells. “Tell Mr. Thomas I can’t talk right now. I think I hurt my back,” Gelo says in the background as someone laughs.

Baylor POV When we walked through the door of the conference room ’Shammus’ started chanting again as the staring guy came forward with his hand extended to shake mine. “Baylor, good to see you. I am Clive Kelly and this is Phineas Brody my best friend as you would say. The other fellows here are Fergus, Aidin, and Arthur,” Clive said as introductions. “This is Kenneth Goldberg and Mitchum Averman, my best friends.”

I extended my arm, "I'm Jade." His hands were so big, they almost wrapped around mine and I swear I felt a jolt electricity course through me the moment our palms connected. "Blake Wilson, and I've heard a lot about you." he smiled softly. Now, move along before you do.” Austin sends me a wink and then moves along. “So, I can’t make friends?” “Not with Austin, he’s a flirt and will fuck anything.” “Anything with a skirt, and he looks the part.” He’s a tall, lean, sandy blond with a flirtatious grin plastered to his face, tattoos littering his skin, at least the parts I could see on his arm, and pierced ears and eyebrows. He has no jewelry in, but I’m fairly certain that when he has them in, he looks lethal.
