Everly’s POV The Goddess was right. I needed Avril to be here. She and I were connected in some way. We were both given a curse just so the Pantheon could give us some of their power. I had thought I was the only one. But my wolf’s sister was here in the flesh. My wolf was spinning around. “We are gemstone wolves.” I explain to Avril. “The Goddess choses to give us gifts, but every gift must come with a price. For you, you can see visions, but you’re blind.”

"Didn't you even think to ask before you destroyed it?" Livia looked away, playing the victim again. My father's face settled back into pure rage. "It's just a damn rock! Suck it up and apologize!" I smiled at him, savoring the words I was about to say. "Father, that amulet was the key to the blessing ceremony. It's written clearly in your alliance treaty with Alpha Kaelen. The moonstone is required tomorrow to read the omens for the pact. Without it, the ceremony can't even start."

Kenzie was still laughing, but after a second she composed herself and replied, "You made it look so dramatic, I thought it was a real deal!"

I don’t know why him fucking Aslantha affected her so much, but it did. Unwrapping the item, I look down on an amulet of some kind. From the style and craftsmanship, I can tell it’s from the Sanguine Empire. It’s a dark antique silver metal wrapped around a ruby diamond in the centre. Flipping it over, I can see the inscriptions on the back. I read the words. Mom made sure we knew this language. An amulet that is said to grant a level of protection to the wearer. I smile softly. For Mom to give me this, just shows how worried she must have been, she isn’t the type to believe in protective magic or rely on them.

The air grew heavier, tinged with a mix of ancient magic and forgotten whispers. As I ventured deeper into the secret passage, the sound of dripping water reverberated through the stone walls. The path twisted and turned, leading me to a small chamber bathed in a soft, blue glow. There, atop a pedestal, lay the Belvidere Illinois Amulet. “Which one? Is it this one?” “No, the blood-red one set in gold!” “Wow! It's beautiful, but not girly either. You're right, it's perfect.” I go to the counter and got the assistant to get it out for me; it had blood-red beads as the chain with small gold beads placed at equal distances along the chain. The amulet itself was an off-round shape with a bright blood-red stone in the center with lighter red stones surrounding it. I got the assistant to ring it up for me, we then made our way around the rest of the town. Along the way, I find a nice box to present it to him in. I hope he likes it “Don’t worry Scar, he will love it.”
