Romans & histoires Avengers Civil War Airport Battle

Chapter 45: The Return Luca Vitale landed at Teterboro Airport at 2:47 a.m. The jet slowed across the private runway, quiet enough that the world outside barely stirred. He hadn’t flown into JFK or Newark for a reason. Commercial airports were a trap—federal eyes, cameras in every terminal, agents who knew his face even if the mask was good. But Teterboro offered silence, shadows, and the kind of privacy a criminal empire could buy without leaving a trace.

Li Jie has memories of past lives and knows that at some point in the future the greater New York area will be a battlefield and even his family's neighborhood will be destroyed. Even though those memories are from the movies, maybe this parallel universe doesn't have all those terrible things happening. But who can guarantee that it won't happen one hundred percent? If Captain America exists, then so does S.H.I.E.L.D. It's also possible that one day the Avengers will fight aliens in New York City.

Amongst the other men who followed close behind were Raphael, Dante, Cheyenne and Haze. “Fucking son of a bitch!” Lorenzo growled as he spotted Alexa and Warren near the security gate, standing close to each other. “Alexa!!” Anthony yelled across the terminal, making more people stop and turn to look. Alexa froze as she saw us, her hand clutching Warren's arm tightly. I could see the fear in Warren. He looked around the airport nervously, he knew he had no way out so he decided to try to fight. He moved his hand towards his waistband to reach for his weapon but Dante landed a heavy punch on Warren that caused him to crash to the ground.

“Then this isn’t over. We may have burned her world, but she’s already building another.” I watched the jet disappear into the clouds on the feed, my mind spinning. Morgan’s voice echoed faintly in my head. Don't trust anyone. The war wasn’t over. It had just changed its shape. Ava’s voice broke through my thoughts. “Where does the jet lead?” The pilot checked his tablet. “Zurich.” Ava turned to me, eyes fierce despite the exhaustion. “Then that’s where we go next.” I nodded slowly, the fire inside me rekindling. “Burn one empire, chase the next. Seems we’re cursed to clean up other people’s ashes.”

A fleet of black Chronomos tactical SUVs tore through the smoke, their sirens wailing as dozens of heavily armed operatives in charcoal combat gear poured out, their rifles leveling directly at the ascending ramp of the plane. "Go! Go! Start the engines!" Kabir screamed, turning to form a rearguard as the first volley of kinetic rounds began to punch jagged holes through the aluminum skin of the aircraft. The race to India had officially begun, and the runway was about to become a warzone.

Ethan whispered, the realization hitting him with the force of a physical blow. He had ordered Vivian locked in the sub-basement holding cells. He had brought the Trojan horse inside his own impregnable fortress. The hit on Leo in the Alps was never meant to succeed. It was a perfectly executed maneuver to force Ethan and Zara to pull the Alpha and Bravo strike teams out of New York, leaving Aegis Tower vulnerable. While Ethan was digging his son out of an avalanche, Vanguard mercenaries had breached Aegis Tower to rescue Vivian. And they hadn't left empty-handed.

They weren't just fighting a physical battle; they were fighting for the narrative. As the helicopter banked toward the roof of the Aethelgard building, the first shots rang out. Antiaircraft batteries on the surrounding rooftops opened fire, the red tracers lighting up the sky like a hellish firework display. The pilot banked hard, the helicopter groaning as it dodged the incoming rounds. Kaden told Laila it was time.

With each passing second, her anxiety increased to an unprecedented new level. The first group of Scouts from the outskirts of New York to the designated airport had arrived one after another, but they promptly sent front-line messages to the Left Military Governor Office, stating that Homeland Security had basically conquered the place. They had assigned a large number of personnel, weapons, and equipment at the airport, even sending six Apaches from the National Guard for surveillance purposes. There was also an F35 escorting the convoy. With this kind of firepower configuration, even if Fleur assigned every Scout of the Left Military Governor Office to the airport, they would be defeated.

"What's wr-wrong with you?" I smirked and hit the gas pedal before she could open the door. "There was no one behind us, and even then we were going twenty-five. To answer your question yes, yes I was willing to get into a minor accident in order to visually express my utter shock and disappointment that you've never watched The Avengers." She bit her bottom lip, causing it to go slightly white as all the blood left. "Well, I just don't see what all the fuss is about. I mean they fight each other and save the world, and it always ends up the same."

“Then we face them. Together. Always together. No matter what comes next, no one, no force, will break us.” Outside, rain pattered against broken windows, the city’s skyline distant and indifferent. Inside the hub, Ava and Ethan stood victorious yet wary, knowing this battle was only one of many. They had struck the first offensive blow — bold, calculated, and devastating to Kane’s network. But the web was vast, and the war was far from over.
