My tears mixed with the storm building around me. Then my bones began to snap. My fingers twisted, my arms elongating, my spine arching violently as something deep inside me broke free. “What—what’s happening?” I gasped, screaming through clenched teeth. Aiyana’s voice trembled but was decisive. “It’s time. The pain triggered the sealed opened. You are awakening.” I couldn’t speak anymore. I fell to the ground, shaking uncontrollably as my body transformed. The pain was unbearable, worse than death itself. Every bone, every nerve tore apart and rebuilt itself in seconds.

Chapter 1: The Awakening In the heart of the ancient forest of Eldoria, where shadows danced among the towering trees, a young woman stirred from a deep slumber. Her name was Elara, and she had been lost in a dreamless sleep for centuries, trapped within the embrace of an enchanted grove. As she opened her eyes, the world around her seemed both familiar and foreign. The air was thick with the scent of moss and magic, and the soft glow of twilight filtered through the canopy above. Memories flooded back to her, fragmented and elusive, like shards of a broken mirror.

Her fingers twitched at the slightest movement, but it was enough to send a jolt through him as he turned instantly. He straightened in his chair, his heart pounding in his chest as he leaned closer to see if he had seen rightly, and her eyelids fluttered awake so slowly in the weakest way ever, as if emerging from a deep, dark ocean that she had been plunged into for days. Her eyes flew open, wide and wild with shock, as a choked gasp escaped her lips, the sound barely more than a whimper. The moment Zoe awoke and felt her body come to life, an excruciating headache hit her instantly, as another crashed against her entirety again, flooding every nerve, muscle, and inch of her battered body.

“But you hide from it.” Her hand reached out and touched my chest. Light flared. Bright. Warm. Alive. I sucked in a sharp breath. My knees almost buckled. The light spread through my body, like my blood had turned to fireflies. “What is happening to me?” I whispered. “You are awakening,” she said. “But you are fighting it.” She stepped back and looked at me with sad eyes. “You cannot walk forward until you face the truth.” My hands shook. “What truth?”

Chapter 38 Alex's POV In the realm between dreams and reality, Alex slowly emerged from the depths of unconsciousness. The gradual return of sensation began with a tingling awareness in his fingers, like tendrils of life creeping up his limbs. A dull ache resonated through his head, as if his mind were struggling to break free from the shackles of slumber. As he fought against the weight of darkness, the world around him remained shrouded in obscurity. His breath came out in short pants, anything more would make one of his broken ribs puncture his lungs. Turning into a wolf was sheer agony for him, but it didn't hold a candle to the unearthly pain he was feeling on every part of his body.

I know I'm dreaming, but I can't seem to wake up. When I wake up, my throat is raw, and even though it felt like I was sleeping for hours, I was only asleep for less than forty minutes. I go to wash my face, and when I look into the mirror, I don't recognise the face staring back at me. I've not recognised her for a long time. I try to remember the last time I ate and come up blank, a girl with shoulder length silver hair, a too thin face and dull brown eyes surrounded by bruises caused by lack of sleep stare back at me. I remember a time when I was pretty. My hair was waistlength back then, framing a face with delicate features, and my eyes were full of life. Now, I am a shell of the person

Unclear images of figures, ancient symbols, and other things that she couldn't place her hands on. "What are you doing?" Mia gasped, struggling against the hold, but the woman's grip was surprisingly too strong for her age. "I am awakening what has been suppressed," the woman replied, her voice now deeper and more commanding than before. "Preparing you for what is to come. For the choice you must make." Her eyes now seemed to glow with an inner light. "The true mate bond... is not what you believe it to be. There are more layers to what you already know, child. Secrets..."

She continued reading. “It says the seal weakens gradually. And…” Her finger followed another line. “…that once the awakening begins…” She frowned. “…it can’t simply be sealed again.” I’d expected that answer. Hearing it confirmed still carried weight. She quietly turned another page. “This part talks about the awakening.” She sounded disappointed. “It describes awakenings differently depending on the individual.” Another page turned. “It keeps repeating that no two are exactly alike.”
