I looked at him with pain in my eyes. With a cracked voice, I said, "You know what, it's too much. You don't deserve someone like me nor do I deserve someone as asshole as you." I took a deep breath and looked straight into his eyes. My heart stung as the next words left my mouth like an acid that burned us together. "I, Aurora Carter, are rejecting you as my mate... Axcel Knight." And with that being said, I turned around and left him, broken beyond repair.

“Let me be very clear. If any of you speak of her again with disrespect, you will answer to me.” Elder Lira clears her throat nervously. “Alpha, you are overreacting. She is… not your mate.” Damon’s gaze locks on her, unblinking. “She is.” The room explodes in whispers. My breath catches. My hands go cold. I scoff at the word…Mate. He said it like it was law. I force my voice out. “Damon, stop. You do not get to claim me.” He turns slightly, jaw hard. “I only speak the truth.”

One of his calloused hands trail down her face, causing tingles and goosebumps to form on her face due to his touch but it's gone as fast as she felt it. Aurora shifts back with everyone looking at her in horror. “I, Jeremy Whit, reject Aurora Tuttle as my mate. You are a monster,” Jeremy tells her. “I accept your rejection,” Aurora tells him as the truth of what she has done rushes over her. “I don’t think you are a monster,” Nelson tells her. “Be mine.” Jeremy picks up Lacy’s headless body and carries her outside, before returning for her head.

Darius continued, his smirk widening, "maybe I'm here to make things interesting." I narrowed my eyes. "Meaning?"
