Mia and the young man had been secretly working together for a long time. They’d used the businessman’s trust to steal money under fake pretenses: renovations, gifts, investments. I had never seen it before in my life but just flipping through the pages already felt like I was being led in a narrow hallway and I was struggling to breathe and find my way out of it. “Where did you find this?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. Axel shrugged, his eyes still locked on the book. “In his study. Hidden behind some old scrolls. I’ve never seen it before. But what matters is what’s inside.”

I say quietly to Selene later that night. She looks at me. “Meaning?” “Meaning the Axis will outgrow singular stewardship,” I answer. “Whether we want it to or not.” Rowan stiffens. “You’re saying she won’t always be the center.” “I am saying she may become the first reference,” I clarify. Selene absorbs that without flinching. “Then Book Four,” she says slowly, “is about expansion.” “And Book Five,” Rowan adds grimly, “is about survival.”

(Charlotte’s POV) When Axel was walking up to us, then he slowly tripped on the little book cart. The book cart fell over and a large bang was heard throughout the whole floor, each echo made it subtly smaller throughout the background. "Shit" Axel silently cursed he got up and walked back to the book cart. He silently glared at it, due to the books that flew over out of the book cart. Benny and I chuckled at how clumsy Axel was. Once Axel got back to the small table, which honestly didn't fit the two welled built men in the small chair, Axel held two sheets of paper that were freshly printed out.

He winks at me as Oona packs up the chess board. She walks past me with the board and slipped a handmade tiny book with a few pages into my right palm. "You can read it now." She says, "Bones won't tell on me." I smile at her and look at the piece of paper. The cover has a gymnast with long hair. It has a title written in capital letters; "HOW TO GET MY SWEET CHUBBY CHEEKS XYANA TO CONVINCE MY DAD TO BUILD A GYMNASIUM FOR THE PACK."

“What do you mean?” “I'd been able to fly a broom since I was nine. I'll simply be wasting my time in the class when I'd rather be consumed in a book.” “Good old Trisha,” Harold said with a grin. “Golden Lake's very own genius.” “There's no need for flattery,” Trisha said although she liked that they showered her with praises. Ot is constructed from thick oak planks reinforced with vertical framing and displays visible grain, knots, scratches and signs of years of use. Draped from the centre of the counter is a deep blue cloth banner embroidered with a gold heraldic lion. Behind the counter stands a solid wooden door positioned almost exactly in the middle of the back wall. The door is made from thick vertical planks strengthened by horizontal braces and fitted with black wrought-iron hinges and a heavy iron latch. Rounded stone blocks form an arched doorway surrounding it, making the entrance appear substantial and secure. On either side of the doorway are tall wooden shelving units extending nearly to the ceilin
