Dustin and Sean had visited to see Azriel the following day. Many things had changed in five years. Azriel wasn't the same. It pained them to realize how much he had endured in the last four years. His suffering had changed him for Azriel wasn't someone without a spirit. He was a born leader. An Alpha Out-and-Out. But right now he didn't resemble his previous self. They both had left after some time, not being able to see him like this.

“You must be Zoe?” I nod my head warily but don’t answer. Instead, I ask. “Who are you?” He extends his hand towards me in greeting and enfolds it with mine. “I’m Mikhail. I’m Azazel’s best friend.” My eyebrows go up to my hairline in astonishment. “Seriously?” He nods his head and looks back at the sparring duo. “Yep. Azazel is my boy.” I think about his answer for a moment. Then a thought strikes me. I know I shouldn’t, but I can’t help but ask. “Are you…” I clear my throat and lick my dry lips. “Are you…like him?”

- Azriel - Chasing Lucifer had exhausted many of the angel troops. Azriel expected difficulties with Lucifer and thought of every sacrifice as necessary. 'Killing our kind is a specialty of yours. Soon though, soon you'll feel the same despair we did.' Azriel had setup plans with Cytus prior. He knew the parasite would attempt to go after Lucifer directly, so he made sure to correct the potential mistake. "Go to the highest roof you can. You'll be more useful as a sniper." Azriel had said to Cytus.

I can feel my neck slowly bending until I see the aisle I am walking on. I am bowing to the demons I wanted to kill. “Don’t be stupid, Mireya,” I felt my eyes sting as I tried to regain my control. My palm curled as I tried to escape whatever spell Azrael had cast upon me. I had exhausted all my energy but I was still under his control. I can hear his footsteps getting closer and closer and the next thing I knew he was already standing beside me, his head bowed like what I’m doing. “Be patient Mireya. Revenge takes time,” he whispered then he smiled and held my hand.

“She is controlling your minds with her sorcery!” An elder priest stepped forward slowly from the ranks of the clergy. He had been one of Aria’s most vocal accusers in the days leading to this moment. His expression now appeared utterly shattered. “No,” he said firmly. The southern king whirled toward him in disbelief. “You too?” The priest met his gaze with hollow, haunted eyes. “No magic forced me to see my own sins. I chose blindness willingly all this time.”

I stopped pacing and looked at him through the shadows. "Because, dear Ezekiel, a dead man is useless. But a prisoner? A prisoner is a chess piece. A prisoner is a tool. As long as you breathe, I have power over your lineage. And who knows? Maybe one day, Ariana will get tired of Zayn and kill him Maybe she'll come crawling back to me, begging for your life. I like to keep my options open." I pulled a small glass vial from my pocket. It contained a glowing purple liquid a specialized potion meant to keep him in a state of constant exhaustion.

Zen arched a brow, not having expected this. "You're even uglier than my expectations," Azriel pointed out, unfazed by the fact that he was standing before a demented soul. The man walked forward and said, "If you don’t want things to get worse," he hissed, "you’ll give me my people back." Azriel’s eyes narrowed. Killing him wasn’t an option; pitting his strength against this madman would yield little but risk. His sole mission was clear. Break into this realm and secure Sean and Violet. Everything else was secondary. "Why does it sound like a threat when it should have been a request?" Zen remarked.

My final act of loyalty wasn’t for Xavier, nor for Valerie, not even for myself. It was for the girl I once braided hair for. The girl who clung to me in storms. The sister I failed before our childhood ended. I typed the message. Not to Lisa. Not anymore. To him. Because he was the only one strong enough… to stop her. To stop Lorenzo. To stop the war closing in. XAVIER. She’s coming. Don’t let her reach the Luna. Don’t trust what she looks like. And don’t hesitate. Because she will not stop. Not until everything goes her way...

“You cannot resist what was born with you. Not falling. Descending. A shape resolves within the tear: vast, geometric, impossibly precise. Wings of fractured light unfold, each segment rotating independently, covered in sigils that rewrite themselves faster than my eyes can track. The Reverent recoils violently within me. Directive presence detected. Arbiter-class. Blake swears. “That’s… bad, right?” “Yes,” I breathe. “That’s catastrophic.” The Arbiter lowers itself until its feet—if they can be called that—hover inches above the ground. Midnight screams beneath it, ley lines flaring bright red before dimming under the suppression field radiating from the being.
