The Baby Isn't Mine!
"Shirley, isn't it possible that this overwhelming sense of compassion comes from something personal? From a connection to this baby that you can't let go of?"
"That's ridiculous. You're slandering me!" she shrieked.
Shirley shot to her feet, pointing at me, her finger shaking.
"I think you've lost it. You gave birth to a child and refused to admit it, and now you're trying to turn it around and slander me. Taylor, don't think having money means you can do whatever you want!"
"Whether it's slander or not, we'll find out soon enough."
This time, the voice didn't come from me.
