Legacy

Legacy

A night of normal conversation with a friend who didn't know about landslides or secret pacts sounded like a lifeline. "I’ll be there," I said, feeling a genuine spark of relief. "Send me the pin." "Yes! I’ll text you the details," she cheered, giving my arm a quick squeeze before rushing toward the mailroom. "See you Friday, Martin—I mean, Boss Lady!" As she disappeared into the crowd, my phone buzzed again. A text from Sarah with a string of champagne emojis. For the first time in months, I wasn't just a survivor or a Senior Director. I was just a girl invited to a party.

Be Back, My Human Mate

Be Back, My Human Mate

said Celia, haltingly. "So?" "To be honest, I miss him and worry about him. I'm used to taking care of him and now, I'm even thinking about what he had for lunch. How ridiculous!" Secretly, Audrey was happy with Celia's answer. "Didn't he contact you while you two weren't together?" Celia's face flushed pink. "Actually, he texts me every day. Saying good morning and good night, also reminding me not to miss lunch and dinner. I... never reply and think it's strange."

“Text me the date as soon as you know it, so I can book your flight.” “Jay, I don’t want you to—” He raised one finger between them, eyes always on the traffic, and it was enough to cut her off. “If that helps your pride stomach it, think of it as a birthday present.” “You don’t do birthday presents.” “That’s why it’s coming in January.” “Okay, I’ll tell you by the end of next week tops.” “Good.” Silvia was surprised to feel her phone buzz and took it out, hoping nothing had happened to her siblings. She gaped down at it as she read the text.

A Step Back

A Step Back

She was preparing to deliver her final killing blow, urging the courts to make an example of me, the social degenerate. Then it happened. The giant screen behind her flickered. Without warning, the giant LCD screen behind her flickered and changed. Her tear-streaked face disappeared from the screen. A black player interface took its place. Moments later, a crystal-clear audio recording blared through the speakers, reaching every corner of the hall and every livestream. The voices in the recording belonged to two people.

REJECTED LUNA RETURNS FOR WAR!

REJECTED LUNA RETURNS FOR WAR!

I only noticed it because the drawer seemed shallower than it should be. I pressed on the wood, searching for a mechanism, and finally found a small catch that released with a soft click. The false bottom lifted, revealing a small stack of letters tied with red ribbon. Red. Redmoon's color. My heart hammered as I carefully untied the ribbon and unfolded the first letter. POV Ruby I smiled at Wolf as he grabbed my bag. "Are you sure that you want to go back today?" he asked and I nodded. I was released from the hospital a few days ago. I still had crutches but I decided to go back to school. "It's too boring here." I complained and he smirked. "I could always just stay with you. I'm sure that we'd find something exciting to do." he whispered in my ear. I shivered and shook my head.

Twenty minutes later, my face is freshly scrubbed, and I've pulled on a pair of well-worn yoga pants and a tank top when my phone chimes with an incoming text. We need to talk. Can I come up?

Begin Again

Begin Again

It wasn't the time or the place, but Eden gawked at the light smattering of hairs on his forearms, gulping at the memory of how good his hands had felt around her when he held her and kissed her in the elevator in Linda's office not too long ago. "Ms McBride?" Gibby snapped her back to reality, the all too familiar look of disapproval on her face as she shook her head. "I'm on it," Eden said. "I'm sending her a text right now to check if she's available." Without waiting for her response, not that she needed it really, Eden turned on her phone to send an urgent life-saving text, and she said a small prayer of thanks when she saw her friend's online. Almost one of the best. Hence, totally agreed to one of the reviewers chapters leading to the end of the novel less interesting perhaps too much effort in making some catastrophe to the story to put some twist. could have made more effort in making the end not to subtle or too obvious.

Val Sims is one of my favorites. Begin Again is the first of her novels that I read and I loved it so much, I had to read all her other works and I love them also. I hope she continues to write because she tells a good story and her characters are believable.

Lead back to You

Lead back to You

Axel began, deftly catching the noisy phone before it met it's unfortunate end, "we should consider giving you a landline you can carry about instead. Tied right to your waist." I shot him a glare, daring with my angry gaze to say one more word and cross the lines. "It's a signal from one of your jets. It's currently heading towards New Zealand." He tossed the phone back after he was done looking at the screen. "The dumbo was right after all."
