The participants were led to the center of the arena. The host raised his voice. “Welcome to Apex Arena! The Games of Bravery begin! Blood shall be spilled! Power shall rise! Let the rules be spoken—” He paused, then stared. “A red-haired… by the gods, it is her. The warrior-maid who felled our best!” All eyes turned to Ara. She stood frozen. “She carries only a bow? Does she think this is a jest?” Laughter followed. “Ria, enough,” came the King of Asa’s voice. Silence fell like a storm.

She walked forward, one step at a time, until she emerged into full light. The Silver Arena yawned before her, a vast oval of scorched, cracked stone, littered with forgotten bones and the ghosts of old screams. Dust curled up from her boots as she stepped into its heart. The crowd erupted. Howls. Jeers. Shouts of disbelief. She was no stranger to them now. But this time, some voices called her name. Across the arena, her opponent waited. Dren Varok, champion of the Northern Fangs. A beast of a man, already half-shifted—fur bristling across his shoulders, claws extending from thick fingers, teeth too long for his mouth. His amber eyes locked onto hers with a predator’s contempt.

“The Mythical Alliance has arranged for backup.” Isak nodded. “Washington Park is public, but it won’t just be humans there. We’ll have angels, demons, werewolves from Bloodmoon and Silverclaw, and hunters—all stationed nearby with their scents masked.” Aidan smirked. “If things go sideways, we’ll be right there.” I frowned slightly, knowing full well how recognizable Hana was. “Are you sure about this? As the Bloodmoon Princess, only the most out-of-touch idiot wouldn’t recognize you. If the hunters realize who you are, this could go sideways fast.”

Then he stood up and gave Jai a wave before leaving the participants' box. "The next battle! Haku versus Darrion!" The committee in the table announced. Darrion was already walking to the arena, while his opponent came out from beside the audience boxes. Haku was wearing white hakama with grey stripes on it. His hair is short and grey, and his skin is fair. He was shorter than Darrion and looked quite agile from his posture. "Hey, Haku," Darrion greeted. The participants' boxes were a few feet away from the arena, so Jai couldn't possible hear what they were saying. But Darrion nodded his head to Haku, and Jai took that as a sign of greeting. Darrion was friendly to anyone.
