I was walking home when my phone vibrated, so I took it out from my bag to see a text message from my best friend, Jane. (Cassandra~ Jane) Hey Hello babe. How're you today? I'm fine, you? I'm fine, a bit tired as usual. Guess what? What? I'll be back home in two weeks time!! Oh wow! thank goodness, i can't wait to see you. I've missed you sha!! Me too, I've missed... I couldn't finish typing my sentence because I suddenly bumped into a hard surface. "Ouch what was that" I screamed in pain. I know, I know. I shouldn't be texting while walking, but trust me this isn't the first time I'm bumping into a wall or a pole while doing that.

I typed, hitting send before I could overthink it. Then I waited, the seconds ticking by slowly. Finally, my phone buzzed with his reply. "Just thought you might need a little something to remember me by." He texted back, adding a wink emoji. I rolled my eyes, a small smile tugging at my lips despite myself. Leave it to Kade to be both infuriating and endearing at the same time. Before I could respond, another message came through. "Hope you’re doing okay. Missed seeing you around."

A message. “Hope your day’s going alright. How’s school treating you?” Simple. Polite. Unexpected. I chewed on my straw and texted back, “It’s boring, as usual.
