Brook and the management team were pleased with his proposal and so he got the contract. "Thank you, Mr. Brook." He thanked for the umpteenth time. "You deserve it. You're good." Neil encouraged, patting him. Neil Brook was a thirty-four-year-old man. He was a business administrator and consultant and owned his private firm before he took over the running of his dad's company. He got married four years ago and has a little son.

Listening to his mocking tone, Hazel turned her head away and said, "Thanks to you." He would appear here, and she certainly didn't naively think that he came all the way to see her and care for her. He was actually very busy every day, and being able to find his way here showed that he was really putting in effort. "Miss Brook from the Brook family is working as a cleaner in Global, and is even pitiful enough to only be able to hide here and eat bread.....Do you hate me now?" Hazel took a deep breath. "Isn't this what you wanted to see? If I just let go and leave, would you spare Brooks?"

Hopefully, it worked and Brook backed down though. Just like with me, it looked as if she was unaware of what was going on. I didn’t understand what was going on. Now if you don’t mind…” Brook held her hand towards the door. Mia shook her head in disbelief, but picked up her bag off the floor and went to leave.

Brook’s tone was incredibly light, but his racing pulse betrayed a highly calculated, probing motive. Lucien’s face remained a flawless mask of pure stone. He looked at Fane with an expression hinting that he had something to tell him but did not know whether he should. Fane raised his eyebrow. He invited Brook into his room and poured him some tea. “Spit it out, why don’t you? Did you run into some trouble during the errand? Or did somebody bully you?” Brook shook his head and accepted the tea from Fane. “I wasn’t bullied. I’ve been in the Clan association for many years, and though the formal and informal disciples looks down on us runner disciples, they wouldn’t dare to bully a veteran like me. It’s just that I felt something was off when I was doing the exchange.”

The biggest story that everyone was talking about was claims that the character represented by my scripts was plagiarized. I sat in my house, feeling a little dizzy from the redecorating fumes. I didn't understand how anyone could accuse me of plagiarism. There was a knock at the door. I opened it to find Brook standing there, holding his cat. I figured he'd seen the news already, too. I invited him in. As expected, the first words out of his mouth were: "Have you seen the rumors about your scripts?" "I have. I promise you there's no truth to them. I didn't plagiarize anything."
