“I told you that it was okay to wait in the car.” “No. It’s okay.” He gave her hand a good squeeze which I, unfortunately, could see. He then looked at me. “This person is…?” “He is Kuronomiya Kakeru. My colleague. He joined two years after me.” She introduced me, then held his hand firmly and turned to me. “This is Ashitaka Mamura. My boyfriend.” “Pleased to meet you.” I bowed in greeting. “Pleased to meet you too.” He returned a bow.

Thank God, he had a younger brother who had a company that was based on that. Be productive, was a company that provided financial support to small and emerging brands in order to promote the products that the brand wanted to exploit. We also financed projects that many banks rejected as insignificant, and, although in reality, they were right since we didn’t earn much money with these small attributions, I felt that in this way I was working positively for the economy of my country in promoting startup companies and shops. I also thought that this way God would accept me more easily in heaven when I died, but that was another matter.

“Alright honey, give him the phone.” “Hello sir.” Ian began, after collecting the phone. “How long do I have to tell you to call me Ben?” Mr. Wright said. “I’m sorry, I'm so used to being formal with my dad and superiors and I consider you as one of them… I can’t help it.” he explained, earning a laugh from Ben. “I’m really flattered to hear that son, but just call me Ben.” “My bad. So, how are you doing Ben?” Ian corrected.

Kimberly asked. Prompted by an encouraging nod from Andrew, Evelyn explained. “It’s a key-driven calculator. An ingenious device. When you press the key, the machine adds or subtracts the value from the accumulated total. The one at the bank is one of the latest models and even has a function that allows you to see the intermediate results. I’ve never seen anything make calculations so quickly, except maybe Andrew.” Across from them, Rick laughed. “You’ve charmed the socks off her, old man. Lucky you!”

I've barely been able to put this story down. I absolutely love it. I love how descriptive the story is. And it has made me want to have been able to go to that World's Fair. It is a beautiful love story and I can't wait to finish it.

I am only to Chapter 22, but this book is Amazing so far and by far my favorite. I love historical fiction and this piece is a gem. I read the Author's book about Grace and Juliet and just had to jump right into this one as some characters are the same.

"Good afternoon." "Hi," Mona replied, sliding her card forward. "I need to make a transfer." "Of course." The process felt too slow. Numbers. Confirmations. A quiet beep as the transaction went through. Her stomach dropped slightly at the amount leaving her account. But she didn't hesitate. "Done," the teller said. "Thank you." Mona stepped away, exhaling slowly as she tucked her card back into her bag. One problem handled. For now. Her phone buzzed again.

I heard someone walk in and I looked up. I smiled when I saw him, it was Mac. Mac is the delivery guy who always delivers flowers to me. "Hi there Iris, these are for you" I sighed. Every day, ever since I started working here, someone sends me flowers. Everyday. "C'mon Mac, tell me who sends these. I don't like this system anymore" I say as I keep the flower bouquet next to my mug. I hate wasting flowers like this. I mean yes, I do recycle it by giving it to a girl in my building who uses these flowers for her business, but still.

Classic and modern at the same time. "Miss Collins," the dark-haired receptionist said, standing, as Isaac opened the front glass door and we entered. "Yes," I replied confidently. "I'm Natalie, Natalie Banks." She came around the large desk. "We've spoken." Her step stuttered as she looked up at Nox. "You're...?" Did her complexion pale? "He's my boyfriend, Lennox Demetri. He's here to support me. I remember. You helped me with my trust fund." She was also the one who'd mentioned Del Mar to me.

She struggled to comprehend the magnitude of Adam's revelation, her mind racing with questions and astonishment. “A bank? As in, you own your own bank?” She muttered. "Yeah, I know it is a lot to take in," Adam replied, a hint of amusement dancing in his eyes. "But yes, I own my own bank. The Business Bank - the one that…" “Offers loans to businesses?” She asked in confusion. She knew the bank well. News about it and it’s success was all over the country. He nodded, without anything close to pride attached to his actions or impression.
