Bared To You Book Reviews Novels & Stories

Inside the Archive, the shelves moved with my breath. I passed by a book bound in velvet dusk. Its title: The First Time You Chose Softness Over Safety. Another: How You Loved When No One Was Looking. I reached for a third. It burned with light before revealing its name: What You Became When You Stopped Trying to Be Understood. I wept then—not from pain, but from reunion. The guide touched my shoulder. “There’s one more,” they said. They led me to a door I hadn’t noticed.

POV: Wolfy A book was a dangerous thing. A sword could cut you. A bullet could pierce you. But a book? A book could rewrite the software of your mind. It could change the parameters of your reality without firing a single shot. I sat in the corner of the barracks common room. The leather-bound volume heavy in my lap. Across from me, Neoma traced the letters on the page with a finger that still trembled slightly from the aftershocks of the Wastes.

She set the tote bag on my coffee table with a dramatic thump. “Okay,” she announced, rubbing her hands together. “Book club. This is sacred.” “It’s one meeting,” I reminded her. Bailey stared at me like I’d said something deeply offensive. “It’s always one meeting until it’s your entire personality.” I tried not to smile. Failed. Bailey grinned triumphantly and unzipped her tote. “I brought options.” She began pulling paperbacks out like weapons. One had a wolf silhouette against a full moon. Another had a shirtless man with abs carved by a vengeful god. Another, horrifyingly, had both.

"What are you doing?" "Erh. Claire. I..how are you? What are you doing so late?" She stuttered. "I should be asking you why you're coming in so late ma'am. You left us alone. We were worried about you" I said. "The Library was locked, I had to wait a bit" she responded. "I am sorry if I kept you waiting," she said. She looked into her bag and brought out two books: Beyond Pardon by Bertha Clay and The Day of The Jackal by Frederick Forsyth. "These books would make my week, I had to wait to get them" she curved a quick smile.

My mother was in the room with her, I could hear her cries and my father was furious his baby girl had been assaulted, Clark went home to burn off steam and I decided to stay so that Polly knew I was there for her. Both were really awkward at each other at first but when they found out that both were reading the same book, they eventually got a comfortable to talk at each other. “So, you also read that book-” “Yeah, I got into it after a friend of mine recommended it to me.” “Isn’t it a great book.” “Yeah, I got hooked on it after reading the first chapter.” “bla-bla-bla” Both continued to talked to each other and enjoyed their conversation. “I was feeling an awkward atmosphere growing between our table so I was gonna try to start a conversation but when you brought out your book, I was just surprised to see a person reading it.” The girl said.

he ordered me. His own hand started to reach for the shirt he wore, undoing the buttons. I obeyed, stripping fast. Nearly ripping out almost all of my shirt buttons in the process. My shirt was impatiently dragged off my body. I tossed it aside just as his own clothes hit the floor. My eyes fell on his fully exposed broad chest. Dang! I drew in a sharp breath. He had so many thick muscles. Enticing. My eyes dipped lower to his cock which was standing proudly.

I kicked the bookshelf over and watched the books fumble to the floor one by one. My anger finally subsided a bit, but one particular book caught my eye. Brown at the spine & green writing with a colorful picture carved onto the front was one of the books that I used to read to Kennedi when she was younger. I bent down to pick the book up and sighed upon grasping it. “How do you feel now?” Bane asked. “You didn’t have to push me like that,” I said.

I say gifted because it literally fell out of the shelf packed with fantasy and folklore books, and right on top of my head as we walked past. The title makes my theory even more concrete. Half Mating: History and Magic. The Lore of a Uno-bind. Silence stretches between us after I ask the question, and then Brie cuts through it with a voice slightly higher-pitched than usual. "You're awfully invested in that book. What exactly are you looking for?" At the sound of her voice, I raise my head, locking eyes on her slitted pair. I fake a smile and flip the book shut with far more force than is necessary.

Dan said, and I nodded. Soon after, we got to section B-2, and Beta Dan started pulling out some books. “I believe these ones are more likely to have what you’re looking for,” he said, handing me a book and another while he himself kept busy studying a page. I started to fiddle with the first book, scrolling page by page. The images and writing fonts were good, but not what I came for, so my interest dwindled. I believe I was reading something about rogues from the eastern side when I started to feel woozy, my eyes heavy and battling to stay open.
