Puck Me, One More Time
It stung.
I filed that away and kept moving, bringing my right hand up in a tight, driven motion that caught him across the jaw with the heel of my palm. His head snapped back instantly. Then I followed with the second blow in full extension, same side — and he was done for real.
The third one came straight at me with the baton raised above his head in both hands. I watched the arc of it … the angle, the speed, the direction … and I reached up and caught the baton mid-swing with both hands, stopping it clean at a go. The shock of it went through my palms. I twisted, using his own momentum, and then drove my elbow into his ribs in the same motion, and he folded at once.
