Two quiet, metallic pops echoed through the rain, completely swallowed by the sound of the storm. The lead mercenary didn't even have time to raise his weapon or key his throat mic. Both rounds caught him directly in the center of his reinforced visor, the ballistic glass shattering inward as his body went entirely limp, collapsing backward into a deep puddle of muddy water.
“Left guard is raising his carbine,” Malakai’s voice cut through, sharp and instantaneous. “Pivot ninety degrees. Now.”
