Royal Rivalry
The challenge was exactly the kind of game I like even if I wasn’t supposed to admit it.
Theo’s eyes followed every move I made. When I was done, he handed me the sword and I felt its weight, familiar and strange at the same time.
“You’ll face your first opponent,” Theo announced to the room. “But first… a proper welcome for our newest member.”
All the boys cheered again, but I kept my gaze on him.
“You know who your first opponent is?” Theo asked, leaning closer just slightly.
I shook my head. “Who?”
“Me,” he said.
