Reina’s gag snapped loose, and her voice, raspy and cracked, ripped through the fight. “Ryker!” She sobbed, voice splintering. “Please! Don’t let him win!” Something inside Ryker shattered. It hit like a switch flipping. Ryker erupted inpure fury, no hesitation. He took down two rogues like they were twigs, his claws soaked red within seconds.

“For the one who truly killed your sister.” The world seemed to still, but before I could speak again, he slipped back into the shadows and vanished. Leaving only silence and dread. --- Ryker’s P.O.V I stood in the war chamber, my eyes fixed on the map spread across the table. Torches flickered along the stone walls, illuminating the marked routes and false trails I had prepared. The bait had been set. Now, we waited. “Has she made contact?” Beta Caden asked. Ryker immediately made his move upon saying that, attacking Asher without giving him a chance to react at all. However, Asher reacted very quickly, so he dodged Ryker's strike very easily. Both of them were skilled, so they just kept going back and forth in the fight. Then, it gradually became obvious to the crowd that Asher's strength could not keep up with his will anymore. That was because Jimmy deliberately exhausted Asher's stamina in the match earlier. After a long match with Ryker following that, Asher was simply struggling.

Ryker was pulling one of the chairs over to him. “Switch that off; I want him to see me first,” he said to someone. The spotlight came off, only a dim light remaining. His eyes adjusted quickly, and he saw Ryker’s amused face as he sat with his feet crossed in front of him. Ryker was a big man, bigger than he was. He had scars across his face from all his battles that made other wolves shrink back in fear. Only something truly horrific could cause scars on a wolf, and this one had lived through many of them.

She took a step towards me and spat on the ground. For some reason, it really felt like she was spitting on me. “You’re a weak link. And weak links are always the downfall of every great empire. Here, we do not raise weak links.” Anger flared through my veins, burning away the last traces of fear. I clenched my fists. “I wasn’t on a real battlefield.” It was one of the times I wished I could speak. I’ll have loved to give her a piece of my mind. Ryker turned to look at me. He had taken a piece of cloth and wrapped around his bleeding hand. His golden eyes flickered with an emotion I couldn’t quite place, no matter how I tried.
