I had never met any of the other kings but had heard about the various shifter kings of our realm. There were four ruling kings: my father, King Alexander of the werewolves, King Phanton Armand of the were-cats, King of the rogues, and then the king of the bears, whose name I did not know. They just called him King. There was another King, said to rule the jungle, but he had not been heard of in many years.

Kara The sound came again, warning and snapping us back to conscious reality. Before we could move, a wild boar emerged from the jungle, its tusks gleaming, eyes wild. It snorted, charging toward us across the sand. “Run!” Adam yelled, scrambling to his feet. Thea grabbed my hand, yanking me up. “Kara, move!”

I stared at his tan face for some time, trying to figure him out, and finally, I came to a conclusion. “Did you get a girl pregnant!?” I blurted out, and by the number of heads turning in our direction, They had heard it. Jonathan cursed under his breath and pulled his hair in frustration. ”No! I got scammed and don't ask me more. Just, help me this last time and I swear Bear, no more asking help from you. Please” My heart melts a little at his nickname for me. My brother calls me bear because I remind him of bears with my heavy weight. He assured me that wasn't the reason but he's been calling me that ever since we were kids.

"Berserker needs to eat." Knowing I should just leave it alone, I asked the question. "Berserker?" Asher gave me a toothy smile. "My bear: Berserker. Your tiger is Junior. Taryk's panther is Smoke. Atlas' wolf is Mr. Hyde. Ransom is Tonto. And Saint is Ten." He made a face at the last man. "You took all my fun by already having a name for your inner beast." "Thank Gaia for that," Saint said.

I should be running next to the children and come with Yanzy as she pulls me up, telling and screaming at me to run. But I didn’t run. Instead I watched as the bear defeated them all. Lachlan became Lock Bear, then Jase became Earth Bear, Arson became Air Bear, and Ransom became Death Bear. Weston came along after Carson's death so I deemed him West Bear.
